Bob went a-courtin’ and found no takers. Again.
Tennessee Senator Bob Corker has once again dropped his re-election bid after hinting that he was reconsidering in recent weeks. Politico just broke the news:
Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) will not run for reelection after reconsidering his decision last fall to retire, his chief of staff said Tuesday.
After listening to some Tennessee Republicans and GOP senators who were privately urging him to run, the two-term senator and Foreign Relations Committee chairman decided that this will be his last year as senator, said Todd Womack, Corker’s chief of staff.

Corker is one snaky guy. First he’s retiring. Then he’s thinking about retiring his retirement announcement. Now he’s retiring again. Why can’t Bob make up his mind?
I think it has something to do with his fallout with President Trump. During the campaign and after the election, Corker was in the running to be Trump’s secretary of state. But he lost out on the job to Rex Tillerson. Many speculate that Corker still has a chip on his shoulder from losing out on the esteemed position.
President Trump thinks as much, and called out Corker for opposing his agenda last fall:
Bob Corker, who helped President O give us the bad Iran Deal & couldn’t get elected dog catcher in Tennessee, is now fighting Tax Cuts….

…Corker dropped out of the race in Tennesse when I refused to endorse him, and now is only negative on anything Trump. Look at his record!

Isn’t it sad that lightweight Senator Bob Corker, who couldn’t get re-elected in the Great State of Tennessee, will now fight Tax Cuts plus!

After these tweets, Corker told a CNN reporter that he wouldn’t endorse Trump for president if he had the chance to do it again.

Well it looks like none of that will matter pretty soon. Corker’s political career is nearly over. He’s going to ride out into the Tennessee sunset alone and unwanted.
What do you think? Does Corker just have sour grapes over Donald Trump? Was his re-election campaign doomed? Tell us your thoughts below and share this story over Facebook now!
