The Republican Party Gets Slapped With Fraud Lawsuit Over Obamacare Repeal

Guess you shouldn’t make promises you can’t keep. Especially in this overly litigious society.

The Obamacare repeal and replace collapse, constructed by Republicans in Congress, has resulted in one very unhappy donor.

In fact, Bob Heghmann, a GOP donor from Virginia, is suing the party for fraud and racketeering after promising to rid the nation of Obamacare for over seven years, but failing in spectacular fashion.

The lawsuit accuses establishment Republicans of having “been engaged in a pattern of racketeering which involves massive fraud perpetrated on Republican voters and contributors as well as some Independents and Democrats.”

Via the Hill:

A Republican donor in Virginia has filed a lawsuit against the national and Virginia Republican parties, accusing them of fraud and racketeering for raising millions of dollars in donations knowing they wouldn’t be able to repeal ObamaCare.

The Virginian-Pilot reports that Bob Heghmann, a retired attorney in Virginia Beach, filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court on Thursday. The suit blasts the Republican Party, saying it “has been engaged in a pattern of Racketeering which involves massive fraud perpetrated on Republican voters and contributors as well as some Independents and Democrats.”

The lawsuit’s defendants include the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Republican Party of Virginia, as well as Virginia’s two members of the RNC and the chairman of the state Republican Party, John Whitbeck.

Trump supporters quickly hailed the lawsuit and its principal litigant as a welcome sight.

Heghmann is demanding that the GOP tell its congressional members that they can either fulfill their campaign promises, or return donations to the people who helped elect them.

“If the candidates don’t deliver, it’s incumbent on the RNC to go to the candidate and say, ‘You can’t do this,'” Heghmann told the Virginian-Pilot.

GOP committee member Morton Blackwell scoffed at the premise behind the lawsuit, labeling it a “frivolous, nuisance suit that should be thrown out of court by any judge.”

  1. What the Establishment (corrupt) Republicans did to hurt President Trump badly hurt all Americans.
Ryan, McConnell, and McCain- the three of you are done! Just join the Demoncrats and make it official. Better yet, just leave the US and find a nice commie country you can betray!

  2. that was promises they made during their campaign and it should not be thrown out …promises are made to be kept if you can not keep them don’t promise something you can’t keep and yes! the money that given should be given back .and hope the Judge is honest enough to see through all this
