President Trump Gives His Quarterly $100,000 Salary to Fight Coronavirus

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump donated his $100,000 fourth-quarter salary to the Department of Heath and Human Services to help fight coronavirus.

Trump Gives His Salary Back

White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham announced the move by the President on Twitter.

“President Donald Trump made a commitment to donate his salary while in office,” Grisham tweeted, along with a picture of the $100,000 check.

President Trump donated his first-quarter salary to the Department of Homeland Security, his second-quarter salary to the Surgeon General, and his third-quarter pay went to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health.

The law requires that the president be paid, but as he promised during his campaign, he continues to give that money back, targeting problems areas he believes deserve more attention and dollars.

Overshadowed by Super Tuesday

This all took place on the eve of the Super Tuesday primaries where former Vice President Joe Biden made significant headway toward the nomination with former frontrunner Bernie Sanders still racking up state wins and delegates. It looks like one of these two men are likeliest to become the nominee of their party, with moderate Biden continuing to go head to head with outspoken socialist Sanders.

But question: Would either of these candidates pledge to give their salary back as President Trump has and does? Isn’t the coronavirus in particular such a cause for concern that they would pledge to do so.

What Other President Would Do This?

Whoever the Democrats end up nominating, they will have a hard time defeating Trump. The current president is a once in a lifetime candidate whose uniqueness continues to shine through for average Americans.

Who else would give up their salary? The answer is probably no one.

Amazing indeed.
