On Saturday, Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Mitch McConnell, the top two leaders at the Capitol, issued a rare joint statement to “respectfully decline” rapid COVID-19 testing even though the Capitol will be teeming with lawmakers — many of whom are elderly — and staff starting Monday.

An excerpt from the statement released by both claims; “Congress is grateful for the Administration’s generous offer to deploy rapid COVID-19 testing capabilities to Capitol Hill, but we respectfully decline the offer at this time. Our country’s testing capacities are continuing to scale up nationwide, and Congress wants to keep directing resources to the front-line facilities where they can do the most good the most quickly.”
[Fox News] The offer for additional help from the Trump administration came as the Capitol’s attending physician advised that coronavirus tests will be available for staffers and lawmakers who are ill, but not enough to proactively test all 100 senators as the chamber comes back in session, Politico reported Thursday.
Dr. Brian Monahan said there is not sufficient capacity to quickly test senators for coronavirus — in stark contrast with the White House, where people meeting with Trump and Vice President Pence are tested for the disease. The doctor said the test results in the Senate will take two or more days, while the White House has rapid testing, the news outlet reported.
But McConnell and Pelosi said they’ll stick with their slower testing processes.

CONGRESS CAN DO THIS?
So now the House can stay out of session indefinitely. All the while, they are being paid. We have been stuck with Pelosi and McConnell for so long I can barely remember when they weren’t there. America loses every day they are in power.
I don’t think it should be an option. If the government can’t be trusted not to spread the disease, why should the burden be placed on the shoulders of the American people? What are they afraid of? It must be they think the test is an effort to give them the virus.
We have been partially opened since last Monday, and there are NO crowds. In fact, in some businesses, there is only one person allowed in that business at a time. Ever think a clerk would be required to take your temperature before you could enter Walmart or Safeway?
PELOSI’S DAMAGE CONTROL
Nancy’s only denying the testing and playing the martyr because she’s doing damage control since she’s embarrassed herself for the last four months transitioning from impeaching fiasco and then hoarding ice cream in her ice palace in San Francisco…..so she made McConnell feel guilty about getting tested even though there were enough tests available.

Or maybe both have been tested, and they do have antibodies. They just don’t want us to know. They have to keep this charade going so they can negotiate yet another “relief” bill. Instead, just let the country go back to work!

It is more important to be right, and we are more devoted to our parties than our country. We have fallen so far from being able to band together, unite for our country’s well being and endure as our parents did to win World War II. Beyond sad.
