It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

And for the NFL – mainly the latter.

We’re approaching the two-year mark since former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick began his “taking a knee protest,” which, in effect, decimated the League’s popularity among many Americans. While the man isn’t without supporters, it’s clear where the majority of people stand – and it’s not with Kaepernick, or the other players who resumed the protest in his absence.

We’ve documented the NFL’s ongoing decline from the start, and today, the NFL is the least liked sports league in America. That’s been visible in the fact that more ghosts than humans are attending some NFL games. Heck, even CNN has acknowledged that the NFL’s viewership is dwindling (so long as Donald Trump isn’t making the claim):

The laws of supply and demand are reflected in ticket prices. According to CBS,

As of Thursday afternoon, there are actual NFL tickets that are selling on the secondary market for under five dollars. Of course, like all good deals, these tickets do come with a catch: You need to live near Buffalo, have a high tolerance for cold weather and be willing to sit through three hours of a Colts-Bills game.

While the NFL’s regular season is drawing to a close, and that may explain the drop in ticket sales for some losing teams, it’s extremely rare to find a ticket to a game for as low as $4.

Clearly, the damage done by the National Anthem protests is really taking its toll. This season has been especially brutal on the League. Let’s hope that next year, the nonsense will stop and we can get back to playing football.

Are you surprised to see the NFL struggling like this? Would you pay $5 for a ticket to an NFL game now? Tell us your thoughts below, and share this story over social media now!
