Michelle Obama embarked on a highly partisan voter registration drive this weekend citing her frustration with today’s political climate and claiming ‘we had a great President’ before Donald Trump.
The group, “When We All Vote,” is described by most media outlets as non-partisan – despite employing only Democrats – and aims to register as many people as possible to vote before the midterms.
One statement from the former First Lady, made at an event held in Las Vegas, reveals the true motivations behind her efforts.
“Believe me, I am frustrated too,” Mrs. Obama said. “I am sick of all the chaos and messiness of our politics. It’s exhausting, and frankly, it’s depressing, so I understand wanting to shut it all out … but democracy continues with or without you.”

Really? What could possibly be the source of that frustration? Could it be the fact that Republicans are in control of the House and Senate? Or is it maybe the fact that President Trump is in the White House, upending Hillary Clinton, a woman who was widely perceived as an extension of the Obama administration?

“If we want qualified people that we trust, then people have to vote. Because you can’t vote some of the time and then sit out,” Mrs. Obama continued.
“You know, we saw that happen. We experienced that. But we had a great president,” she said, an obvious reference to her husband, Barack.
Michelle Obama said we “had” a great president. By what measure? Not in economic growth. Not in border enforcement. Not in strength on the world stage. Sit down, Michelle.

By nearly every measure – from the eradication of ISIS to the economic benefits for all Americans – Trump has been a better President.
Mrs. Obama has been reluctant to use Trump’s name in addressing voters, but it’s clear who her ‘frustrations’ are targetting.
She has also been active in trying to get non-white women to vote in the upcoming midterms.
“[W]omen of color know how to get things done for our families, our communities and our country,” she said. “When we use our voices, people listen. When we lead, people follow.”
For his part, the former President has been more brazen with his criticism of President Trump of late. He urged voters to get out and “restore some semblance of sanity to our politics” to combat the “crazy stuff that’s coming out of this White House.”
Trump responded as only he can.
“I’m sorry, I watched it (his speech), but I fell asleep … I found he’s very good – very good for sleeping,” the President said.
