The climate activists Michelle Obama and Tom Hanks are being accused of hypocrisy after they were spotted partying on the Hollywood director Stephen Spielberg’s super-yacht that burns 700 liters of fossil fuel per hour even when it is not moving.

Liberal Elites Party On Super-Yacht

Daily Mail reported that Obama and Hanks were photographed on the massive yacht in the Mediterranean over the weekend. They were joined by Spielberg and his wife Kate Capshaw, and by Hanks’ wife Rita Wilson. Noticeably absent from the excursion was the former President Barack Obama, whose wife appears to be on vacation without him.

Spielberg bought the $250 million super-yacht over the summer, and has since been sailing it up and down the coast of Europe, stopping at places like Cannes, Antibes, Nice, and Portofino. Named the Seven Seas, the vessel features two swimming pools, a movie theater, and a helicopter landing pad.

Though the super-yacht is filled with radically liberal climate activists, the vessel is actually doing quite a bit of damage to the environment.

“Even when not moving, a yacht that spans 357 feet can easily burn 700- 800 liters of diesel per hour,” Luxury Launches reported. “According to the WSJ, a 250-foot-long ship consumes 500 liters per hour, costing $550 in the first ten minutes alone.”

Spielberg And Obama Talk Climate Change

Spielberg has been outspoken about climate change, saying in 2018 that he is “terrified” of global warming.

“I’m terrified of [global warming],” Spielberg said at the time. “Global warming is a scientific reality. It’s not a political trick. It’s a true piece of real, measurable, quantifiable science.”

Last year, Obama’s voting initiative When We All Vote teamed up with climate and community organizations to attempt to increase youth voter participation in the 2022 midterm elections.

“With passage of the Inflation Reduction Act’s historic investments in climate action, we have an unprecedented opportunity to motivate young people to turn out to the polls. This campaign will educate them about the Inflation Reduction Act’s climate benefits and give them the tools they need to make their voices heard,” Lori Lodes, Executive Director of Climate Power, said in a statement released at the time, according to Fox News.

Hanks Whines About Global Warming

As for Hanks, he described global warming as something that “really is quite horrifying” in a 2021 interview.

“I made a movie down in Australia, and I can’t tell you how many skin clinics exist around there simply because — there is a hole in the ozone down there, and skin cancer is a worry for people,” Hanks told Newsweek at the time.

Hanks was referring to the movie Finch, in which he plays a man who builds an android to take care of his dog. Together, they then fight for survival on a planet that has become nearly inhospitable because of the collapse of the ozone layer.

The film features a monologue in which Hanks’ character explains how the world got to this point.

“When he starts talking about how, for example, first everybody tried to pretend it wasn’t existing, then everybody tried to hide, and then everybody tried to hoard,” Hanks said. “And then once that ran out, the rules sort of broke. That’s not hard to imagine, I think it is really quite horrifying.”

“So if there is some version of an old cautionary tale that’s going to be in Finch, I think it would be, well what are we going to do to and for each other when the hurricane comes or when the floods come or when the ozone is so bare that the sun can cook a hotdog just by sitting outside?” he added.

This is far from the first time liberal elites have been caught exercising a “rules for thee but not for me” attitude. At a time when more and more celebrities lend their influence to politics, it’s clear they do not feel beholden to practice what they preach. The hypocrisy remains alive and well.

The hypocrisy of the left never ceases to amaze.
