On Tuesday, Iran’s defense minister confirmed that the rogue nation had tested a new missile, the first such test since Donald Trump was sworn in as president. Since the United States signed a controversial nuclear deal with Iran, the country has tested several ballistic missiles, but claims such tests did not violate the terms of the agreement.
While the Obama administration was eager to cave to Iranian demands and appease the Mullahs, giving them billions of dollars in exchange for a meaningless pledge from the country to not pursue nuclear weapons, President Trump is not so naive.
During Wednesday’s White House Press Briefing, National Security Adviser Michael Flynn announced that the Trump administration was officially putting Iran on notice following their latest nuclear test. The administration’s statement should come as no surprise given that President Trump repeatedly blasted the “horrible” nuclear deal and pledged to negotiate a better deal with the nuclear-ambitious nation.

Here’s Flynn’s comments to reporters:
The Trump Administration condemns such actions by Iran that undermine security, prosperity, and stability throughout and beyond the Middle East and place American lives at risk. President Trump has severely criticized the various agreements reached between Iran and the Obama Administration, as well as the United Nations, as being weak and ineffective. Instead of being thankful to the United States for these agreements, Iran is now feeling emboldened. As of today, we are officially putting Iran on notice. The Obama Administration failed to respond adequately to Tehran’s malign actions—including weapons transfers, support for terrorism, and other violations of international norms.
At this point, it is unclear what “putting Iran on notice” fully means, but given the comments then-candidate Trump made during the 2016 election, we shouldn’t expect this administration to sit back and allow the rogue nation to flaunt its nuclear ambitions.
Michael Flynn’s comments do send a powerful signal to both Iran and the rest of the world that this administration is committed to reigning in Iran, and they’re not playing games like the failed Obama administration.
