Martha Stewart has announced that she made the difficult decision to cancel her Thanksgiving dinner this year, admitting that she is “turkeyed out.”

Stewart Cancels Thanksgiving

Stewart, 82, dropped this bombshell while appearing on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” last week.

“I gave up Thanksgiving. I canceled,” she said. “Nine guests canceled because somebody got sick. So … I called up my chef friend and I said, ‘We’re not doing Thanksgiving.'”

On top of the cancellations, Stewart is simply tired of making turkey.

“I’ve also cooked 14 turkeys already for my TV show, and I still have to [cook] one more turkey on the ‘Today’ show,” she explained. “So forget it.”

When host Kelly Clarkson asked if Stewart is “all turkeyed out,” the lifestyle guru replied in agreement, “I am turkeyed out.”

Though Stewart won’t be making her own turkey this year, she still has some big Thanksgiving plans.

“I made a plan,” Stewart said. “Friends, of course, invited me to their home, so I’m going to about five different homes to taste different courses.”

When Clarkson speculated that “those friends must be so stressed out,” Stewart replied with a laugh, “Oh, I hope so.”

“If you were coming to my house, I would for sure lie and say I cooked it and have somebody else do it,” she continued jokingly.

Stewart Crowned ‘Queen Of Thanksgiving’

This is all especially surprising, given the fact that Stewart was crowned the official “Queen of Thanksgiving” by the “Today” show last year, with host Carson Daly surprising her with the honor .

“There’s been a lot of talk lately about who’s the certain queen of a particular holiday,” Carson said, referring to the unofficial queen of Christmas Mariah Carey. “Well, this morning, we’re here to confirm the one thing that we know for sure. So, by the powers invested in me with this golden turkey baster goes to the one and only miss Martha Stewart, the queen!”

After being given a crown, Stewart gave a brief acceptance speech.

“I do believe that Thanksgiving is a very important time of year, and despite all other ideas that, you know, we skip over Thanksgiving, you never, never can. Here’s to our pioneers!” she said. “And to Mariah, I still love you!”

Stewart’s 2022 Thanksgiving

Last year, Stewart celebrated Thanksgiving by posting a series of photos of her collection of decorative turkeys to Instagram.

“My thanksgiving decorations were basically all about the bird!” she captioned the post. “112 at last count! glass, wood, gilded, golden, metal, composite, porcelain etc etc fun for kids to count. keeps each busy for at least twenty minutes!”

The designer Christopher Spitzmiller attended Stewart’s 2022 Thanksgiving celebration at her farm, sharing photos of the special day on social media.

“Today we had the best Thanksgiving ever,” he wrote in the caption. “Many thanks to @marthastewart48 for including us in the festivities, and for her continued friendship.”

“Every single dish was delicious and to watch Martha make the gravy was a special treat,” he continued. “I had the honor of carving the turkey and it was a magical day all around. So much to be thankful for. #happythanksgivng#thanksgiving #marthastewart.”

Stewart has been helping others with her Thanksgiving recipes for decades.

“I think I probably cooked, oh, maybe, I’ve cooked, let me see, 60 Thanksgivings at least, maybe more,” she said in 2020. “‘Cause I got married when I was 19, and I did my first Thanksgiving … when I was 20 years old.”

No wonder Stewart is all “turkeyed out.” Hopefully she enjoys the holiday tomorrow, as she has definitely earned the right to not host Thanksgiving for once and instead kick back and relax with friends!
