Leftwing Pastor Gets Backlash After Claiming Christmas Is A Feminist Holiday About Woman Leading A ‘Revolution’

A liberal pastor has found herself in hot water on social media after she claimed that Christmas, a holiday that is meant to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, is actually a feminist holiday.

Liberal Pastor Declares Christmas To Be A Feminist Holiday

“Christmas season is about God choosing a woman to lead a revolution of re-organizing the structures of societal power by her leadership, tenderness, and faith,” tweeted United Church of Christ Rev. Jes Kast.

When one social media user responded by saying, “Not about her son, then?,” Kast fired back by writing, “Read Luke 1. It begins with the ‘yes’ from Mary. Without her, there would be no savior. It begins with Mary and the Holy Spirit.”

“Apparently gender-identity politics > Scripture,” someone else replied. Once again, Kast shot back, “Read Scripture. This is Luke 1. I hope people take the Bible seriously this Christmas.”

While it’s true that Mary played a huge role in the birth of Jesus, and that her faith and obedience are a crucial element of it, the holiday is still mainly about the birth of Jesus himself. Christians have celebrated Mary for centuries for the sacrifices she made, yet Kast is trying to argue that God’s decision to use Mary is greater than his ultimate plan to redeem those who have sinned.

BlazeTV host Steve Deace summed this up perfectly, tweeting, “Christmas is about God sending His Son to graciously bring Heaven to us, when we couldn’t get to Him because we chose to believe lies like this instead.”

Though many social media users had fun with this at Kast’s expense, one went a more serious route by writing, “In all seriousness, readers, this is a dangerous blasphemy on the sovereignty of God and the singularity of Christ as Savior. Even Mary called herself the servant of the Lord.”

Kast Doubles Down

Instead of backing down to the backlash, however, Kast stood by her initial tweet and lashed out at her haters.

“Mary needed to say ‘yes’ before Jesus could be born,” she wrote. “Gospel of Luke tells us this. The vitriol provoked by this response (yesterday) illustrates a pervasive lack of respect of opinions and bodies of women. We need to unlearn broken patterns of thinking.”

We certainly would not want to attend any church that this lady is preaching at.
