John Rich Promotes Viral Sensation Oliver Anthony – ‘Pray For This Man’

Last week, we reported on the viral sensation Oliver Anthony, who has become hugely popular among conservatives with his blue collar anthem “Rich Men North Of Virginia.” Now, things have gotten even better for Anthony, as the country music star John Rich is promoting him online.

John Rich Promotes New Song

“The man with the biggest song in the world, Oliver Anthony, doesn’t start his show with a song but rather Psalm 37,” Rich wrote on social media. “This passage details the destruction of the wicked and God’s protection for the righteous.”

“Pray for this man to survive his fame and hold the independent position he’s been given,” he continued.

Anthony Goes Viral

This came after Anthony went viral with his song “Rich Men North of Richmond,” which has been described as a “bone-chilling” country ballad about the working class, according to Fox News.

“I’ve been selling my soul, working all-day, overtime hours, bulls–t pay, so I can sit out here, And waste my life away,” Anthony sings. “Drive back home and drink my troubles away. It’s a damn shame what the world’s gotten to, for people like me, people like you. Wish I could just wake up and it not be true, but it is …”

“There’s rich men north of Richmond, Lord knows they all just wanna have total control,” he continues. “Wanna know what you think, wanna know what you do, and they don’t think you know, but I know that you do. Cause your dollar ain’t s–t, and it’s taxed to no end, cause the rich men north of Richmond.”

Social media users have made it clear that they can’t get enough of the song.

“I’m a 39 year old Iraq vet and Construction worker, struggling like a dog to take care of two kids and keep a farm going when I’m not working 11 hour days,” one user commented. “This hit so hard today I had to stop my old peterbilt and tear up. Preach brother.”

“I haven’t heard a bone chilling original song in what seems like decades,” another added. “You speak for millions of us. I’ve been waiting for you Oliver.”

Anthony ‘In A State Of Shock’

Whiskey River reported that Anthony lives off the grid on 90 acres in Farmville, Virginia with his three dogs. He has always enjoyed writing songs in his free time, but he has enough talent that he can definitely make a full time career out of it.

Even Anthony himself has been shocked by the success of “Rich Men North Of Richmond,” however.

“‘Rich Men North Of Richmond’ has been uploaded to all major streaming platforms and will show up there in a few days,” he recently said. “Im still in a state of shock at the outpouring of love I’ve seen in the comments, messages and emails. I’m working to respond to everyone as quickly as possible.”

John Rich is one of the few openly conservative singers out there, so it comes as no surprise that this song resonated with him. Let’s all follow his call to pray for Anthony, because this is one voice that we need now more than ever!
