Rep. Jim Jordan Announces Bid For Speaker of the House

Rep. Jim Jordan, founding chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, has confirmed that he plans to enter the House Speaker’s race to succeed outgoing Speaker Paul Ryan.

Jordan made the announcement on The Curt Schilling Podcast on Monday. “If and when there is a Speaker’s race, I plan on being part of that discussion,” Jordan said, before adding that the GOP needs to focus on “the kind of things we told the American people we were going to do” if they want to have a Speaker’s race at all. “We get the right kind of immigration bill across the finish line, we actually make the tax cuts permanent, we fight for the values we told the American people [we would], we reform welfare. I mean, these are the kind of things we told the American people we were going to do and I think more important than who the Speaker is next year is what we do this year because if we don’t do the right things this year we might not have a race for Speaker. Maybe it would be a race for minority leader so let’s stay focused on what we got to do and everything else will take that step.”

To the chagrin of conservative voters, Paul Ryan has carried on the establishment tendencies of ousted former House Speaker John Boehner. In contrast, Speaker hopefuls like House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Majority Whip Steve Scalise have made an effort to appeal to the working-class voters who elected President Donald Trump.

However, McCarthy, who’s from California, has also proven that he – like Ryan – is willing to compromise with Democrats on hot-button issues like immigration, a move that surely puts Republican control of both the House and Senate in jeopardy. Jordan, on the other hand, has demonstrated that he’s actually willing to fight for American citizens and rule of law.

Unfortunately, the smart play is to keep Ryan in the Speakership until the midterms. But if and when an election for a new GOP Speaker occurs, Jim Jordan might be the party’s best bet.

  • The only way to drain the swamp is to vote these people out of office who want do their jobs for what is best for the American people.

  • As Jim Jordan says, let's focus on just stopping the fascist swine from taking over in November...if that should happen we will be wishing for a Paul Ryan...ANYone but the piglosi...

  • In eight years as a senator from NY, Hillary introduced 3 bills:
    S. 1241: A bill to establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site in the State of New York. Bush signed the bill Dec. 3, 2004.
    S. 3613: A bill to name a post office the "Major George Quamo Post Office Building." Bush signed the bill Oct. 6, 2006.
    S. 3145: A bill to designate a highway in New York as the Timothy J. Russert highway. Bush signed the bill July 23, 2008.

By contrast Jim Jordan co-sponsored 49 bills. Hillary's heroic efforts (according to the MSM) to make her bills law pale by comparison to Jim's. Unlike the RINO Ryan, Jim Jordan isn't controlled by special interest and will make an excellent Speaker Of The House.

  • Paul Ryan needs to leave ASAP. He doesn't know what he stands for. One day it's one thing, the next day just the opposite. He's with whoever is standing next to him. His policies change more than a revolving door.

  • Please, please, please.....call your Congressman to support Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House!!! Kevin McCarthy is a RINO & his getting the position would be a disaster!!! Again Mc. is a p___y who is the worst kind of lukewarm "conservative!!"

  • Your not a conservative if you are in support of amnesty which Ryan is. He is also wishy washy on the 2nd amendment and Obama care. You cannot count on him to hold his ground with the Democrats

  • YOU are the RINO. People like you are constantly looking for purity tests on what you assume is the "conservative" position. "The true rule, in determining to embrace, or reject any thing, is not whether it have any evil in it; but whether it have more of evil, than of good. There are few things wholly evil, or wholly good. Almost every thing, especially of governmental policy, is an inseparable compound of the two; so that our best judgment of the preponderance between them is continually demanded."
Speech in the House of Representatives (20 June 1848)

  • Ryan has always been a conservative Republican, but the moment he got his job, the Rhinestone RINO hunters started backstabbing him. I really like Rep. Jim Jordan, but Republicans are not sheep like the other party. Getting Republicans organized is like herding feral cats with their tails on fire.
