A devastating tornado ripped through the city of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, leaving behind a trail of destruction. Four people have been killed, and 20 others injured.
But in the midst of all this tragedy, God’s presence could still be felt… particularly in the story of one woman who survived the storm despite a “400-lb pine tree” falling through her home and onto her bed.
How did she survive a pine tree crashing through her home in the middle of the night?
“I believe in God,” the woman explained, “something said get out of this bed.”
She did, and it saved her life.
“God made sure I was safe,” she declared.

A Hattiesburg woman whose home was destroyed by a huge pine tree during Saturday morning’s storms said she felt God was telling her to get out of bed and move to a safer location. It was a decision that saved her life.
Adding to the remarkable evidence of God’s presence is this second miracle: a statue of Jesus on the campus of William Carey that remained completely untouched despite the destruction all around it.

The main campus of William Carey University on Saturday was in disarray after an early-morning tornado ripped through the private Christian school’s grounds.
The twister ripped roofs from buildings, twisted metal around trees and overturned cars. A statue of Christ remained unharmed, becoming the iconic image of the storm. And for many, the statue was a symbol — of the hope to move forward and a reminder that no one died on campus from the destructive force of nature that claimed the lives of four people in the surrounding area.
Savannah Saucier, a sophomore on the William Carey basketball team, said she “so thankful to God that it (the storm) wasn’t any worse.”
Amazing. Even in the midst of such tragedy where it would be easy to lose faith, this community found signs of God and praised him for his work. Wow!
