Attorney General Sessions Pledges to Charge Illegal Immigrants with Felony for Re-Entering U.S. Illegally

It’s no secret that President Donald J. Trump believes America needs to enforce its immigration laws. For too long, our politicians have broken the promise to secure our borders and keep the American public safe.

But President Trump is no politician, and since being elected president he has taken swift action to restore law and order to this country. Less than one month after taking office, Trump issued new memos on illegal immigration.

Among the new directives, President Trump has authorized the construction of a border wall, the hiring of 5,000 new Border Patrol agents, ending the controversial “catch and release” program, and cracking down on sanctuary cities.

In addition to these steps, during a speech along the U.S.-Mexico border, Attorney General Jeff Sessions just announced that any illegal immigrant caught re-entering the United States illegally will be charged with a felony.

From Town Hall:

Speaking from the U.S.-Mexico border in Nogales, Arizona Tuesday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced major changes to Justice Department protocol when it comes to charging and prosecuting illegal aliens.

“For those that continue to seek improper and illegal entry into this country, be forewarned:  This is a new era.  This is the Trump era.  The lawlessness, the abdication of the duty to enforce our immigration laws and the catch and release practices of old are over,” Sessions said.

Further, Sessions said prosecuting those who assault federal law enforcement officers will be a priority. “If someone dares to assault one of our folks in the line of duty, they will do federal time for it,” Sessions said.

The Attorney General also emphasized the administration’s focus on dismantling violent cartels and dangerous gangs inside America cities.

Unsurprisingly, one liberal journalist, Matt Yglesias, falsely smeared Sessions, accusing him of calling Latin American immigrants “filth.”

For his part, Alex Griswold of the Free Beacon called him out on Twitter:

The “filth” that Sessions was referring to were gangs like MS-13 and violent criminals that terrorize American communities with drugs and leave “death and violence in their wake.” After blasting these violent gangs, the Attorney General powerfully explained that “It is here, on this sliver of land, where we first take our stand against this filth.”
