Jeb Bush was a decent governor of Florida. But as a presidential candidate he was an unmitigated disaster. True, nobody was going to beat Trump in the 2016 Republican primaries. But even beyond Trump’s insulting nicknames, Bush was such an uninspiring candidate he had to beg audiences to clap for him.
Thus taking advice on politics from Jeb Bush is like asking Himmler about kosher restaurants, Jack Kennedy about celibacy, and Louis Farrakhan about race relations. They haven’t a clue.
So when Jeb opens his yap about the modern Republican Party he is irrelevant. Not so much because of what he is saying, but because he is saying it. His current line is trying to sound populist by telling Republicans they should not focus on DC but on state and local Republican efforts.
Well, the Tulsa City Council is not deciding HR1, the Pensacola mayor does not control our southern border (more’s the pity), and Miami is not turning the military into a vehicle for PC social engineering. So perhaps the action is at the top right now. But trust Jeb to get it wrong and also look transparently bumbling as he tries to pretend to be a populist.
Dear Gawd. Will somebody tell this guy to just go away?

Fox News reported:
“Jeb Bush, former governor of Florida and Republican contender for president in 2016, slammed a ‘hyper focus on DC politics’ amid a leadership battle in the House Republican Conference among those who believe Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., is not welcome in the Republican Party. Interestingly, Stefanik has a far less conservative voting record than Cheney, who represents deep-red Wyoming. The conservative group Heritage Action gave Cheney a 91% score compared to just 56% for Stefanik during the most recent Congress.
“Bush was responding to an assertion from National Review editor Jay Nordlinger who asked questions about the state of the GOP. Nordlinger argued Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo. was ‘persona non grata’ in the Republican Party.”

“Where is the juice in the Republican Party right now? Liz Cheney is on the outs. Her rival, Elise Stefanik, is bolstering support on the talk shows of Steve Bannon and Sebastian Gorka,” Nordlinger said on Twitter. “Cheney is persona non grata. Stefanik — very much grata. This is the GOP. No way around it,” said Nordlinger.
Bush babbled in response, saying, “Jay, you maybe are falling into the trap that conservative are defined by what goes on in Washington DC. We are a bottom-up country and all of this hyper focus on DC politics is wrong. Look to conservatives in the states and those doing great work outside of organized politics.”
Anybody that matters in DC could not be reached for comment, as they forgot who Jeb Bush was several years ago.
