Over the past week, liberals have been working overtime trying to cancel the conservative country music star Jason Aldean’s new anti-woke anthem “Try That In A Small Town.” Unfortunately for these hateful leftists, however, their efforts have officially backfired them in a big way, as they’ve only helped to make the song a massive hit!

‘Try That In A Small Town’ Is A Huge Hit

Though “Try That In A Small Town” dropped back in May, liberals lost their minds when the music video for the song was released on July 14, as it dared to show the violence and chaos that was caused by the Black Lives Matter riots in 2020. The backlash from liberals soon became so great that CMT caved by pulling the music video from its rotation last week, but this appears to have only made listeners even more interested in the song.

USA Today reported that “the song hit 11.7 million on-demand audio and video streams between July 14 and 20, marking a 1,000% increase from the previous week.” Before the music video came out, “Try That In A Small Town” accounted for 987,000 streams in the U.S., but during that same week, digital sales increased from 1,000 to 228,000.

Before CMT pulled the song’s music video, it had 350,000 views on YouTube, but that number has since skyrocketed to over 18 million views at the time of this writing. On top of that, it is also the No. 1 trending video under the “music” category.

“Try That In A Small Town” has hit number 1 on iTunes, and it debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week just behind BTS’s Jung Kook solo single “Seven,” featuring Latto. Perhaps most impressively of all, the anti-woke song experienced the biggest sales week for a country song in over a decade.

Aldean Thanks Fans For Their Support

On Monday evening, Aldean posted a video to Twitter in which he thanked fans for their support of his song, captioning it by writing, “Thank u guys. Ready to see u back out there this weekend!”

In the video, Aldean can be seen addressing his fans at one of his recent shows as he eluded to a silent majority of Americans making “Try That In A Small Town” a huge success.

“So, somebody asked me, ‘Hey man, do you think you’re going to play this song tonight?'” Aldean said. “The answer was simple. The people have spoken and you guys spoke very, very loudly this week.”

Aldean Denies Song Is ‘Pro-Lynching’

This comes one week after Aldean denied claims made by the left that his new music video was “pro-lynching.”

“In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests,” he said. “These references are not only meritless, but dangerous.”

“There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it- and there isn’t a single video clip that isn’t real news footage -and while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music- this one goes too far,” he continued. “‘Try That In A Small Town,’ for me, refers to the feeling of a community that I had growing up, where we took care of our neighbors, regardless of differences of background or belief. Because they were our neighbors, and that was above any differences.”

Aldean has long been known for being one of the only openly conservative stars in the entertainment world, so being targeted by the left is not a new experience for him. However, he took issue with the cancel culture mob trying to paint “Try That In A Small Town” as being a racist song, when it is not that at all.

“My political views have never been something I’ve hidden from, and I know that a lot of us in this Country don’t agree on how we get back to a sense of normalcy where we go at least a day without a headline that keeps us up at night,” Aldean concluded. “But the desire for it to- that’s what this song is about.”

The success of “Try That In A Small Town” just goes to show that while the hateful left may have loud voices, there is a silent majority in this country that has had enough of the woke nonsense.

We applaud Aldean for refusing to back down to the liberal cancel culture mob, and we can only hope that he continues to stand strong against them in the future!
