Hollywood Legend Robert Redford Says ‘Pleasant Surprise’ Of Coronavirus Could Be That It Helps The Environment

While the Redfords preach about the positives of coronavirus, the pandemic continues to kill hundreds of thousands of people all over the globe.

Hollywood legend Robert Redford just became the latest celebrity to claim that the coronavirus pandemic, which has killed over 61,000 Americans at the time of this writing and left 26 million unemployed, could be a good thing because it will allegedly help the environment.

The 83-year-old actor and his filmmaker son James Redford wrote an op-ed for NBC News in which they had the nerve to write that one of the “pleasant surprises” of the COVID-19 lockdown is that it has presented a means for “potential environmental repair.”

“As many of the world’s transportation and industrial sectors have reduced operations, there has been a remarkable decline in global levels of carbon dioxide emissions,” the Redfords wrote. They went on to suggest that while “the cost in life and livelihood negates any celebration,” the results of coronavirus have nonetheless given us “a very real glimpse of the potential for global environmental repair.”

The father and son duo also called on governments to step in and “protect” the people from “climate change” much like they have taken action against COVID-19. The Redfords essentially would like governments to fight climate change with the same draconian measures that have destroyed our economy and left millions unemployed.

“The incremental and sporadic nature of climate change has not thus far motivated the sort of rapid response we have seen with COVID-19,” they stated, noting their dismay, adding that “inertia is unacceptable.”

The Redfords went on to warn Americans to prepare for “the worst of the climate change curve” much like they are bracing themselves for the worst of the COVID-19 curve.

“We’ve been fortunate to witness the inspiring power of people doing the right thing,” they wrote. “Millions of Americans have willingly sheltered in place to protect their families and communities.”

In the end, the Redfords clearly see the coronavirus as a positive thing, which isn’t hard for them as they worked on this op-ed comfortably secluded in their Hollywood mansions.

“Big cultural shifts do not begin with treaties, laws and policies,” the father and son wrote. “They start on the ground and in the hearts of people. It is often said that if you capture hearts, minds will follow.”

“In this way, stories and narrative strategies can be uniquely powerful,” they added. “We hope to further this goal by making and supporting film and media projects that highlight stories of good citizenship and strong leadership.”

While the Redfords preach about the positives of coronavirus, the pandemic continues to kill hundreds of thousands of people all over the globe. This is a prime example of just how out of touch with reality the liberal elites of Hollywood have become. Only they are deranged enough to actually spin a deadly pandemic such as this one in a positive way.
