Disgraced pal of Hillary Clinton, Democratic donor, and Hollywood movie mogul Harvey Weinstein was found guilty Monday morning on two counts of sexual assault by a Manhattan jury.

The leading light, with his brother, behind Hollywood studio Miramax, Weinstein’s career spanned decades and he produced some of modern film’s most renowned and profitable ventures.

But along with his career successes was a record of rape and sexual harassment that gives lie to the image of the arts as a haven for tolerance and inclusion.

It was an open secret Weinstein behaved this way. Yet actors, actresses, and others flocked to be with him and be seen with him to reap the rewards of his sponsorship.

The revelation of his crimes sparked the #metoo movement and has led to a wholesale reappraisal in pop culture of their attitudes towards the institution of the casting couch and the personal carte blanche given to their most powerful players.

It, of course, stands to reason that Weinstein was a major Democrat donor, as to be anything else in Hollywood is close to career suicide.

As a noted Democrat, while he went about his campaign of rape and harassment he was lauded as a great person and upstanding citizen by the likes of Hillary Clinton and others in the Democratic Party establishment.
