Fox News Poll Shows Trump Losing to Every Top 2020 Democratic Candidate

A new Fox News poll released Thursday conducted between August 11 – 13 shows each of current the top four 2020 Democratic presidential candidates beating President Trump if the election were held today.

The survey posed the question, “If the 2020 presidential election were held today, how would you vote if the candidates were…”

  • Joe Biden (50%), Donald Trump (38%)
  • Bernie Sanders (48%), Donald Trump (39%)
  • Kamala Harris (45%), Donald Trump (39%)
  • Elizabeth Warren (46%), Donald Trump (39%)

Remember, This is a FOX NEWS POLL

Again, this is a Fox News poll, which some might consider to be more favorable in its methodology toward the current president.

Trump fared no better when it came to favorability. While Biden, Sanders, Harris and Warren all performed well, Trump’s favorability rating was a terrible at 42 percent “favorable” versus 56 percent “unfavorable.”

Among the leading four Democrats, only Harris’ favorability comes close to an overall negative rating, with 41 percent “favorable” and 40 percent “unfavorable.”

How poll respondents thought the direction of the country was going could also spell bad news for Trump.

The survey asked: “How satisfied are you with the way things are going in the country today – are you very satisfied, somewhat satisfied, not very satisfied or not at all satisfied?”

A combined 40 percent agreed they are “very” or “somewhat” satisfied, while a combined 59 percent responded that they are “not very” or “not at all” satisfied with America’s current direction.

It’s Not Just Fox News That’s Finding Such Results

It should be noted that in addition to this new Fox News poll, Real Clear Politics average if the election were held today shows that Trump would lose to Biden by about 8.6 percent, Sanders by 5.6 percent, Warren by 3.2 percent, Harris by 2.2 percent, and Mayor Pete Buttigieg by 0.3 percent.

Yet polling in this moment might not necessarily reflect the outcome of the election, for two reasons.

First of all, polls at this stage in the primary reflect enthusiasm levels for candidates that could change dramatically as the election continues and especially as voters become more familiar with whoever becomes the eventual Democratic nominee.

Trump Proved Polls Wrong in 2016

But perhaps more importantly: Donald Trump already proved all the polls wrong once.

For months before the 2016 election, Hillary Clinton consistently outpolled Trump in every major survey. Overwhelmingly, most polls showed Clinton with a lead of between two and seven percent just two weeks before the election.

While the polls were technically correct according to popular vote, it obviously still didn’t change the fact that Clinton would lose the election.

According to this Fox News poll, the 2020 election is the Democrats’ to lose. Judging by history, don’t be too surprised if that’s exactly what happens.
