Report Claims Fox News Executives Used Spying, Intimidation Tactics Against Accusers

The ongoing crisis surrounding Fox News and numerous allegations of sexual harassment leveled by multiple female staffers is not going away anytime soon.

Last week, it was reported that the Department of Justice was investigating Fox News, and whether or not it illegally paid settlements to several accusers, as well as the overall environment at the cable news network.

Despite Fox News’ co-president Bill Shine resigning from the network, it appears as though the investigation will continue, and a new report claims that accusers were spied on and intimidated.

The accusations center around former Fox News contributor Bo Dietl, who recently told the Wall Street Journal that Fox News hired him to investigate and “discredit” some of the women who had accused others of sexual harassment.

The Journal reports that Dietl “had an investigator eavesdrop on Ms. Mackris’s conversations at an establishment, in an effort to show the wasn’t under duress from alleged harassment.”

In addition, Dietl claims he was asked to dig up dirt on former host Gretchen Carlson as well as former producer Andrea Mackris, with hopes of discrediting both women. Interestingly, Dietl originally denied the charges against him, saying “In big letters: never ever did Roger Ailes hire me to do any investigation of any journalist. This is only coming out because I’m the only private investigator who appears on Fox News. Roger never hired me.”

If Dietl’s admission is true, then Fox News truly could be in more trouble than previously thought.
