Report: Department of Justice Investigating Fox News

The hits just keep coming for the top cable news network.

In the wake of the ongoing scandals at Fox News, it appears as though the network could be in some serous legal trouble. As most of you know, two weeks ago, Fox News fired long-time host Bill O’Reilly following multiple allegations of sexual harassment against him.

In addition, several African-American employees have just filed a lawsuit against the network, claiming they have been subjected to racial discrimination. Former host Andrea Tantaros is also involved in an ongoing legal battle with the network over sexual harassment allegations as well.

Now, it appears as though all of Fox News’ troubles may have gotten much worse, as a new report claims that the U.S. Department of Justice and the United States Post Office are investigating the network, focusing on mail and wire fraud.

From CNN Money:

Investigators from both the USPIS and the Justice Department have been conducting interviews in recent weeks — including with some former Fox staffers — to obtain more information about the network’s managers and business practices, the sources said.

The existence of the federal investigation was revealed in February. At the time Fox News and its parent company 21st Century Fox said they had not been subpoenaed, but a spokeswoman said, “we have been in communication with the U.S. Attorney’s office for months — we have and will continue to cooperate on all inquiries with any interested authorities.”

The investigators have been asking “how the shareholder money was spent; who knew; and who should have known,” one of the sources said. But, CNNMoney has learned, the settlement payments are not the only thing they are examining.

Investigators have been probing possible misconduct by Fox News personnel and asking questions about the overall environment at the network. Investigators have also been asking questions about mysterious confidants of Ailes — people who were known inside Fox as “friends of Roger.”

If the federal government, under President Trump, is investigating Fox News for potential crimes, then the cable network must really be in trouble. While the network’s problems have been mainly PR related, potential federal crimes could blow the door wide open.

While there is little doubt the left led the charge to get Bill O’Reilly fired, the DOJ is run by the Trump administration, suggesting that any investigation into Fox News’ actions would not be politically motivated.

  1. I don’t think that Fox News will be hurt be that investigation. But given those sexual harrassement accusations, it might be a good idea for them to reduce their female staff. The loss wouldn’t be that colossal, nothing compared with the disappearance of Bill O’Reilly and now the scarcity of Hannity on the screen. If Fox were to disappear that would be the end of watchable TV News Channels and we would have to resort to Internet Streaming Outlets. BTW, I don’t think that Trump has anything to do with this investigation, but there are still a lot of leftist liberal elements in the justice department. Just watch the judges of the ninth circuit

  2. The lefty moles who burrowed their way deep into career positions in the Civil Rights division are carrying out this witch hunt. Very soon though, the filth that has been going for decades at NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, CNN, MSNBC will come spilling out like an overflowing cesspit. Better than half the people involved in the Fox scandals have also worked at these other outlets. They know it all. And leaking it is a way of fighting back.

  3. It is an all-out effort by the progressive establishment to bring FOX News down. Pure and simple. They HATE the truth, and FOX comes closest to reporting the truth of any network out there. The PC Thought Police will NOT be happy until they have silenced any and ALL decent to their long-term agenda.

  4. welcome to the united states still under control of the liberal progressives terrorist party and their shadow government. obama still has operatives buried deep in all departments of our government and they are still pulling strings and committing illegal actions against anyone who has opposed them or called them out for their actions this last 8 years. trump needs to put and end to obama and his shadow government. every single government employee hired under the obama administration should be given the option of resigning and keeping their pensions and benefits packages or being removed and losing their pensions and benefits packages and being prosecuted! the list of federal employees needs to be cleaned of anyone who will work against the trump administration. it is time we took back this country from the liberal progressive terrorist party and its army of federal employees!

  5. Trump/Sessions could probably stop the investigation if they desired … or could have likely stopped it before it began assuming it didn’t start during Obama … but you know Fox and Trump weren’t getting along really well during the campaign … so the Prez might be preoccupied with NK or how Baron is doing in school … and Sessions has those pesky sanctuary cities
