I warned that this was coming. Less than a week ago, in an article about the media’s obsession with giving Captain America and Princess Elsa same sex partners, I said it was only a matter of time before Disney caved to the gay agenda. Has that day already come?
U.S. Weekly breathlessly reported that the new trailer for “Finding Dory” hints at Disney-Pixar’s first lesbian couple:
A newly released trailer for Finding Dory has started speculation that the sequel to 2003’s Finding Nemo will be the first Disney-Pixar film to feature a lesbian couple.
In the promo, which originally debuted on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, there is a brief scene where a toddler drops her sippy cup after being knocked over by a baby stroller. One of the two women walking by picks up the cup and says, “Poor baby, let me get that for you.”
The seconds-long segment almost immediately caused social media users to speculate that the two women were a lesbian couple. One user wrote, “If the rumors are true and the first lesbian couple in a disney movie ever is in #FindingDory YAY for a big important step to acceptance!!!!” while another added, “People are boycotting Disney because they show a lesbian couple in the Finding Dory trailer…Do they not know who voices Dory?!?”
While there was much fanfare and excitement from the usual suspects who want to insert gayness in to absolutely everything, I think they’re just seeing what they want to see. The woman who says, “Poor baby, let me get that for you,” doesn’t appear to be familiar to the child and seems to be just a stranger picking up a dropped cup. And while there is no indication as to who the other woman is, it stands to reason that she would be the child’s mother as there are no other parents in the scene and it would be odd to have the child be left alone.
There’s no way to tell until the film is released or the studio releases a statement, so until then we’re all left to scrutinize the video and guess.
