Democrats Privately Express Doubt on Feinstein’s Handling of Kavanaugh Information

It was bound to happen. You can’t keep up this farce for this long without it blowing up in your face.

Senator Dianne Feinstein has reached a do-or-die moment, and it looks like she is going for the latter. Senator Feinstein, as you should know, was originally informed that Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court, had sexually assaulted a girl while he was in high school.

The accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, made her accusations in the form of a letter that was passed to Feinstein’s office back in July. After waiting months and until the vote was to come for Kavanaugh’s confirmation, she released the information to the public.

Now, Feinstein, Senate Democrats, and Ford are all demanding an FBI investigation into the matter. In the meantime, Ford is refusing to testify before Congress. (RELATED: Kavanaugh Accuser Christine Blasey Ford Wants FBI Investigation, Won’t Testify Before Congress.)

First of all, the FBI doesn’t investigate these types of matters. Feinstein knows this and is playing dumb. (RELATED: Here’s Why An FBI Investigation Of Kavanaugh Would Solve Nothing.)

Second, if this case truly merited the FBI’s involvement, why is the demand just being made now? If this is a serious allegation, Feinstein should have come forward back in July. Instead, she sat on the information and released it when it was politically valuable to do so.

Feinstein’s delay totally undermines Ford’s case and makes it look like an opportunistic guttersnipe. And now Democrats are starting to recognize that Sen. Feinstein really flubbed this one.

From The Washington Post:

Democratic senators on the Judiciary Committee were tepid about Feinstein. “She did her best,” said Sen. Mazie Hirono (Hawaii). “I can’t fault her,” said Sen. Kamala D. Harris (Calif.). “Extremely difficult circumstances,” noted Sen. Richard J. Durbin (Ill.)

Privately, some Democratic senators wished that Feinstein had come to them sooner with the allegation, according to a Democrat with direct knowledge of internal Senate dynamics. The Democrat spoke on the condition of anonymity to be candid.

Of course, these Democrats who vent to The Washington Post are keeping their voices silent in public. They know this is a sham because it looks like a sham.

It’s time to end this debacle. Confirm Kavanaugh now!
