Congressman Walks Out of Moment of Silence For Victims of Texas Church Shooting

Democrat congressman Ted Lieu walked out of a moment of silence for victims of the Texas church shooting, held inside the chambers of the House of Representatives, instead of recording a social media video just outside saying he “will not be silent.”

Lieu, of course, is an anti-gun California wingnut, and he spit on the somber moment to draw attention to himself and his gun control crusade.

“My colleagues right now are doing a moment of silence in the House of Representatives’ chambers,” Lieu said while his colleagues were honoring the lives lost at South Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs. “I respect their right to do that and I myself have participated in many of them.”

“But I can’t do this again; I’ve been to too many moments of silences,” he added. “In just my short period in Congress, three of the worst mass shootings in us history have occurred. I will not be silent.”

Such a warrior.

“I urge us to pass reasonable gun safety legislation, including a universal background check law supported by 80 percent of Americans, a ban on assault rifles and a ban on bump stocks,” Lieu demanded.

“We need to do that, we cannot be silent. We need to act now.”

Well, you could actually be silent for just a moment. You know, to honor the dead instead of stepping on them to push your political platform. That’s too much to ask apparently.

Is it any surprise that a Democrat would be willing to do this? This is a party that once removed ‘God’ from their platform. A party that mocks people that choose to pray during moments of tragedy. A party that kneels during moments of silence for fallen police officers.

Explain please, Mr. Lieu, why you couldn’t engage in the moment of silence for one minute to honor or remember those who were killed. Explain please, why, if you simply couldn’t take part, you didn’t just silently walk away?

Instead, you’ve gone with a ‘look at me’ video, taking focus off of the victims and placing it on yourself. That’s not courageous, that’s cowardly.

There were several children – CHILDREN – that died in this attack. And Lieu couldn’t take a moment to remember them.

It’s pretty damn pathetic.
