Former MI6 spy Christopher Steele was responsible for compiling the notorious anti-Trump dossier that was used by the FBI to justify spying on the Trump campaign during the 2016 election. It was deliberately concealed from the FISA court that approved the spying warrant that the dossier was funded by Fusion GPS, a left-leaning opposition research firm that was being paid by Hillary Clinton and Obama’s campaign arm, “Organizing for America.”

He failed at taking down candidate Trump, but he hasn’t taken his sights off of President Trump. The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence’s report last week found “no evidence” of collusion between President Trump’s 2016 campaign and the Kremlin, but it did unearth new evidence of collusion between Christopher Steele and the Obama administration.

According to the Washington Times:

The disclosure means the FBI has relied on at least two Democrat-tied groups — Fusion GPS and now the Penn Quarter Group — to collect accusations against President Trump.

The majority Republican report by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence says a former top aide to Sen. Dianne Feinstein, California Democrat, has secured millions of dollars from unidentified donors, some of it to pay Mr. Steele and Fusion.

In the case of Feinstein, her former top investigator, Daniel J. Jones on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, operates the private intelligence firm Penn Quarter Group. Jones met with the FBI in March 2017 and told agents that Penn had acquired $50 million from wealthy donors to hire Steele and Fusion to continue investigating alleged Trump ties to Russia.

According to the report, Jones “planned to share the information he obtained with policymakers on Capitol Hill and with the press and also offered to provide [Penn Quarter‘s] entire holdings to the FBI.”

Bear in mind, this post-election meeting with the FBI came after Steele had been fired by the Bureau for committing a “cardinal sin,” leaking to the media. Steele had leaked information from his dossier to various journalists prior to the election, while he was employed by the FBI, including Yahoo News reporter Michael Isikoff, and Mother Jones reporter David Corn.

Why would they agree to meet with him again? Perhaps the swamp isn’t quite drained…
