Editor’s note: This article has been updated with a new response from President Biden.
President Biden accused social media giant Facebook of “killing people” by not removing ‘disinformation’ about COVID-19 vaccines from their platform.
The absurd accusation came as he was speaking to reporters late last week.
“What’s your message to platforms like Facebook?” a reporter asked with the background that White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki had admitted the administration is actively working with the Big Tech company to flag ‘disinformation’ regarding vaccines.
“They’re killing people – I mean they’re really, look, the only pandemic we have is among the unvaccinated,” Biden claimed. “And they’re killing people.”
That’s a really strange way for Biden to embrace a partnership in combatting so-called vaccine ‘misinformation,’ accusing Facebook of killing people.
“We’ve increased disinformation research and tracking within the Surgeon General’s Office,” Psaki told reporters last week. “We are flagging problematic posts for Facebook that spread disinformation.”
The startling admission borders on something you might hear out of a country that utilizes state-run media.
But Biden’s comments signal that Facebook is not doing enough to prevent “killing people.”
Facebook slammed President Biden for his statement.
Guy Rosen, Facebook’s vice president of integrity, said the “facts tell a very different story to the one promoted by the administration in recent days.”
He also suggested that the President was simply lashing out because the administration missed its goal to vaccinate 70% of Americans by Independence Day.
UPDATE: Biden has since walked back his comments, saying explicitly that “Facebook isn’t killing people” at a press conference.
Instead, Biden placed the blame on “12 people” who are giving misinformation. Still, Biden pressured the private company to “do something about it.”
Naturally, CNN host Dana Bash took Biden’s absurd claim and somehow shifted it to her network’s obsession with Fox News.
In an interview with Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, Bash questioned whether or not her competition or “conservative media” in general have played a role in “killing people.”
“President Biden did accuse social media platforms of killing people,” Bash said. “Do you think conservative media, like Fox News, are doing the same? Are they killing people, too, with rhetoric you just heard?”
While Joe Biden and CNN are accusing Facebook and Fox News of mass murder, one thing you’ll never hear from either is an accusation that China was responsible for “killing people.”
And as the President and the media push a narrative that the pandemic is now simply a “pandemic of the unvaccinated,” five fully vaccinated Texas Democrats have tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend.
Still, the CDC reports that over 97% of the people currently hospitalized for severe COVID-19 infections were unvaccinated.
President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris both cast doubt on the effectiveness of the vaccines being developed under the Trump administration as candidates for office in 2020.
“I trust vaccines, I trust the scientists, but I don’t trust Donald Trump” Biden insisted.
What kind of message is that for a vaccine developed by scientists under the direction of Trump’s administration?
Harris, meanwhile, repeatedly refused to commit to getting a COVID-19 vaccine because she didn’t trust the man who delivered them.
“I will say that I would not trust Donald Trump, and it would have to be a credible source of information that talks about the efficacy and the reliability of whatever he’s talking about,” she said in regards to vaccines last September.
Polls at the time showed that the number of Democrats who said they would “definitely” get the vaccine had dropped significantly.
Last week, a shocking new report indicated that groups aligned with President Biden, including the DNC, are pushing text message carriers to help monitor ‘misinformation’ regarding vaccines.
“Biden allied groups, including the Democratic National Committee,” Politico reported, are “planning to engage fact-checkers more aggressively and work with SMS carriers to dispel misinformation about vaccines that is sent over social media and text messages.”
