‘Avengers’ Star Chris Evans Says He Probably Couldn’t Play Trump Supporter Tom Brady

Chris Evans, dubbed ‘the progressive Captain America’ by Hollywood Reporter, said he’d have a very difficult time playing the role of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in a film.

Why? Because Brady is a supporter of Donald Trump, somebody Evans refers to as the “dumb s***” President.

Evans has been a vocal opponent of the President but has previously claimed he’d be willing to overlook Brady’s support saying, “If anyone gets a pass” it’d be the six-time Super Bowl champion.

Hatred for the President has apparently seethed in Evans, and he’s no longer willing to play somebody who stands by the commander-in-chief.

Asked if he’d take on the role of Brady in a biopic, Evans said, “I don’t know. I really hope he’s not a Trump supporter.”

Cutting Ties

“I’m just hoping he’s one of those guys that maybe supported him and now regrets it,” Evans continued. “Maybe he thought it was going to be different — and even that bothers me — but maybe there’s a chance now he just thinks Trump’s an absolute dumb s***, which he is.”

“If he doesn’t, if he’s still on that Trump train, I might have to cut ties. It’s really tough.”

Evans added that he’d have to pull off some sort of “mental gymnastics” to be able to play the role.

First of all, why would he think that a movie about Tom Brady – NFL legend – would focus on his politics in any way, shape, or form? Second, if you can’t act like a person who thinks like Brady – which is roughly half the country – then how good of an actor are you in the first place?

The closest he’d have to get to being political in the Brady movie is if they recreate this Super Bowl play called “Reagan” – a 4-yard run to the right when the score was 3-0.

Not exactly a turning point of the game.

Brady and Trump

The New England Patriots quarterback has been friends with the President for several years and endorsed him as a presidential candidate in 2015.

The future Hall of Famer was even spotted with a “Make America Great Again” hat in his locker, something that sent liberal sports journalists into an apoplectic rage.

Politically, Evans claims he doesn’t want to upset a good portion of his fans, seemingly unaware he has done just that by ripping Brady and Trump.

“You don’t want to alienate half your audience,” he said. “But I’d be disappointed in myself if I didn’t speak up. Especially for fear of some monetary repercussion or career damage — that just feels really gross to me.”

Yes, because hating on the President is a real career killer in Hollywood. He’s so brave.
