NBC Withheld Michael Avenatti’s Contradictions on Kavanaugh Accuser Until After Hearings

We just learned some specifics as to why the Senate Judiciary Committee referred Michael Avenatti and Brett Kavanaugh accuser Julie Swetnick for a criminal investigation. The Senate Judiciary statement cited “obvious, subsequent contradictions along with the suspicious timing of the allegations [made under oath],” in reference to both Avenatti’s and the accuser’s behavior, but didn’t list the exact contradictions.

But now we’re learning what exactly the Kavanaugh-hating duo were lying about.

NBC News, which aired an interview with Swetnick on October 1st, is calling out the Kavanaugh accuser for her lies in that segment. From the report: “In the NBC News interview that aired on Oct. 1, Swetnick back-tracked on or contradicted parts of her sworn statement where she alleged she witnessed then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh “cause girls to become inebriated and disoriented so they could then be ‘gang r*ped’ in a side room or bedroom by a ‘train’ of boys.”

There you have it. Swetnick caught red-handed in her own lie. But that’s not all.

NBC found other inconsistencies in the claims of a second, unnamed accuser whom Avenatti had as a client. This second individual gave a sworn statement aiming to add credibility to Swetnick’s claims. That unnamed woman claimed she witnessed Kavanaugh spike the punch at high school parties. Less than 48 hours after Michael Avenatti released that sworn statement on his Twitter, she told NBC, “I didn’t ever think it was Brett.” She also said she never witnessed Kavanaugh act inappropriately towards women.

It’s nice that NBC is clearing the record now that Avenatti and Swetnick have been referred for criminal investigation, but the network’s reporting is long overdue. I imagine NBC reporters know the truth is going to come out with a criminal investigation, so they want to give the appearance of having been on the side of truth. But as their own article admits, the unnamed accuser contradicted herself to their reports ” in a phone interview arranged by Avenatti on September 30th.”

To be clear, NBC knew of the contradictory story before the Kavanaugh hearings.

They sat on that information for nearly a month, and it’s likely we never would’ve learned of it in absence of the criminal referral. Furthermore, it’s interesting that NBC is now acknowledging that Swetnick contradicted herself in their interview with her now, rather than when they actually interviewed her. It was obvious to everyone who followed Swetnicks story, except NBC, that Swetnick changed her story.

It’s even more damning that NBC sat on this while the Kavanaugh hearings were actually going on.

If you remember, Sen. Dianne Feinstein cited Swetnick’s allegation as a reason for distrusting Kavanaugh.

Swetnick has no credibility, and I suppose even NBC can’t hide that fact anymore. A friend of Swetnick spoke out to confirm that the incident Swetnick described actually never occurred, and that her actions were politically motivated. A boyfriend of Swetnick, Richard Vinneccy, filed an injunction against her in 2001 in Miami and claims she threatened him and his family after they split. During an appearance on Fox, Mr. Vinneccy said: “I don’t believe her. I really don’t believe her.” He added: “She always wanted to be the center of attention… She was exaggerating everything. Everything that came out of her mouth was just exaggerations.” Vinneccy said that during their entire relationship, Swetnick never claimed to have been sexually assaulted.

And just a bonus as we’re on the topic of media cover-ups, we learned yesterday that TIME Magazine sat on a controversial quote from Avenatti for months until just recently. When asked about the 2020 Democrat nominee for president, Avenatti declared that the candidate “better be a white male.” He made that racist comment on June 25th. But it’s only now just appearing.

Looks like Avenatti’s media pals have no more use for him and they’re throwing him under the bus. Besides a few radical Democrats, I doubt anyone will miss him that much.
