New York socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted a message celebrating the oil industry’s massive nosedive on Monday and the subsequent loss of jobs it will entail.
Oil plunged to -$36.73 a barrel, turning negative for the first time in history, an event that will devastate the economic recoveries of many nations including the United States.
And AOC couldn’t be any happier about it.
Love to See It
Responding to a story involving the oil crash, the environmental extremist could hardly contain her excitement.
“You absolutely love to see it,” she wrote. “This along with record low interest rates means it’s the right time for a worker-led, mass investment in green infrastructure to save our planet *cough*.”
Mike Casca, communications director for Bernie Sanders chimed in asking, “like some kind of new deal?”
“Great idea!” Ocasio-Cortez replied.

Backlash
Despite a quick deletion of the gleeful message, numerous people on social media had a strong reaction to AOC’s ill-advised message.
“I don’t ‘love to see’ oil [and] gas workers [and] their rural communities suffering as a result of this devastating price collapse, [AOC],” wrote Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-TX).’
Rep. Kelly Armstrong (R-ND) was even more forceful with her response.
“Openly celebrating the economic destruction of families and communities because it fits a political narrative is unacceptable and unbecoming of a member of Congress,” Armstrong replied.
“People’s jobs are evaporating. Lives are being ruined in real-time. North Dakota companies that have taken decades to build have been destroyed in hours,” she added. “Any public official that loves to see this does not deserve to hold office.”

The Left Is Loving The Economic Devastation
Others pointed out that Democrats like AOC are quietly celebrating the economic devastation as a means to implement their agenda.
“You only need thousands of people dead and millions of people unemployed to enact your vision, which is basically what we’ve been saying all along,” commentator Stephen Miller mocked.
Associate Editor of Commentary Magazine, Noah Rothman posted a link to his column which adds, “These unbearable conditions may be demanded of a nation struggling to contain a pandemic, but an engineered recession is precisely what the Green New Deal’s proponents envision.”
Proving that point, AOC continued tweeting messages pushing her radical New Deal.
Now is the time to create millions of good jobs building out the infrastructure and clean energy necessary to save our planet for future generations.

“Perhaps someone in the journalism industry would care to ask the presumptive Democratic nominee if he agrees that now is the time to push a Green New Deal and if he also ‘loves to see’ millions of people laid off from their jobs,” Miller wrote.
Sadly, nobody in the current journalism industry is going to challenge Biden like that. Especially when he is trying to curry favor with the Squad.
On a positive note, however, we don’t need them to ask. Biden’s own words have shown he sides with AOC’s extremism.

It was mere months ago that the challenger to President Trump – the best Democrats could offer the job to – claimed humans will be wiped out if they continue to use fossil fuels as a primary energy source and even suggested jailing executives at major oil companies to fix the problem.
He agrees with her. He might not say it in so many words, but he and the Democrats are “absolutely loving” the American economy tanking, jobs being lost, and millions of people and their families suffering.
