Actress and leftwing activist Alyssa Milano is not happy that NFL legend Herschel Walker showed his support for President Donald Trump during night one of the Republican National Convention on Monday.
Milano criticized Walker for promoting the idea that President Trump cares about “social justice.”
“As a sports fan I’m so sad to see @HerschelWalker say that Trump is a champion of social justice,” Milano tweeted.
Herschel Walker said during his speech that as a black man growing up in the south he knew from experience that President Trump is not a racist because he had seen the real thing “up close.’
“Growing up in the deep south, I’ve seen racism up close,” Walker said. “I know what it is. And it isn’t Donald Trump.”
“Just because someone loves and respects the flag, our National Anthem, and our country doesn’t mean they don’t care about social justice,” the NFL legend added. “I care about all of those things and so does Donald Trump.”
Walker believes that through his actions, President Trump has showed that he cares about the black community.
“He works night and day. He never stops,” Walker said Monday night. “He leaves nothing on the field.”
“Some people don’t like his style,” he continued. “The way he knocks down obstacles that get in the way of his goals.”
Then Walker finished by continuing his football analogy.
“People on the opposing team didn’t like it when I ran over them either,” Walker ended. “But that’s how you get the job done.”
Walker explained to Fox News’ Laura Ingraham why he wanted to speak at the convention.
“I don’t think people really know Donald Trump. I think they look at Donald Trump from a tweet or look at from what he says, and they’re not looking at what he does,” Walker told Ingraham.
“Donald Trump has done more in three years than almost most presidents have done in eight, and what’s so special about him is he cares about people and that’s what I wanted people to do,” he continued.
“I’ve had a personal friendship with Donald Trump for 37 years, and during all this time he has never, never, never asked Herschel Walker to speak for him, and after they’ve called him all types of names, and I know Donald Trump,” Walker added.
“I’ve been with him in very, very special moments and I’ve never seen that in him and that’s why I wanted to speak for him,” the NFL legend said. “What this president has done for America needs to be known, and I think it’s not being known.”
