An aspiring young actor has found himself on the wrong side of the law after filming a movie scene that was shot in Woodbridge, NJ.
Carlo Bellario got a part in a low-budget, independent film called Vendetta Games. The position wasn’t a paid gig, he was just doing it for the experience and credit.
In one scene, Bellario’s character is involved in a chase and shootout with another character. While the scene was being filmed, an onlooker called police.
Because the prop gun being used was a BB gun, which is treated as a real firearm in New Jersey, Bellario was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm.
“Our scene was a simulated car chase scene. We just drove around the neighborhood. I’m pretending I’m shooting with the recoil, with a pellet gun. I guess people in the neighborhood saw that. They call the police. We get back and we’re surrounded by cop cars!” Carlo said.
“The producer didn’t have a permit to film. Didn’t have a permit for that gun which turned out to be a bb-gun,” he continued. “Now because of that I’m looking at 5 years because it’s a second degree crime. 5 to 10 years actually.”
Carlo has started a GoFundMe page to help raise money for his defense.
