For years, Donald J. Trump has been speaking out in defense of Christmas, pushing back against those in Hollywood and the media that prefer the politically correct term “Happy Holidays” to “Merry Christmas.”
During the campaign, Trump insisted that if he was elected, the American public would start saying “Merry Christmas” once again.
From The Daily Caller:
“The word Christmas,” Trump said on the campaign trail last September at the Values Voter Summit. “I love Christmas. I love Christmas. You go to stores, you don’t see the word Christmas. It says happy holidays all over. I say, ‘Where’s Christmas?’ I tell my wife, ‘Don’t go to those stores.’”
“I want to see Christmas. I want to see Christmas.’”
“Other people can have their holidays but Christmas is Christmas,” he continued. “I want to see Merry Christmas. Remember the expression Merry Christmas? You don’t see it anymore! You’re going to see it if I get elected, I can tell you right now.”
Trump has made it clear that he believes “there’s an assault on anything having [to do] with Christmas. They don’t want to use the word ‘Christmas’ anymore at department stores. There’s always lawsuits and unfortunately a lot of those lawsuits are won by the other side.”
In 2015, Trump gave a speech blasting political correctness and the need to bring back Christmas into the public light:
While Donald Trump is on the front lines defending Christmas, President Obama has been doing his best to try and undermine the holiday.
For more than 30 years, “Christmas in Washington” was a tradition broadcast on cable each year. but after 33 years, Obama officially cancelled the famous event.
The event was described as a “grade-school pageant on steroids. The night was filled with marquee musicals acts such as Earth, Wind & Fire, Tim McGraw, Gloria Estefan, Justin Bieber and Mariah Carey, who crooned Christmas classics on stage while the first family and other Washington VIPs sang along from the audience.”
Americans across this country should stand up and applaud President-elect Trump’s commitment to protecting Christmas from liberal political correctness.
