Veterinarian Calm Puppy Before Surgery with Soothing Elvis Tune

A young patient named Ruby was preparing for surgery at the local clinic, and of course was a bit anxious prior to the procedure.

That’s when Dr. Ross Henderson stepped in, guitar in hand.

The thing is, Dr. Ross is a veterinarian, and Ruby is a puppy.

In a video that is quickly going viral, Henderson sings and plays a version of the song, “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” originally recorded by American rock legend Elvis Presley.

The nervous pup calmly lies curled up in the good vet’s lap, seemingly at ease despite her pending surgery.

When the animals that come through the Fox Hollow Animal Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado are stressed out, Dr. Ross Henderson is there to comfort them.

Video of the veterinarian singing sweetly while playing the guitar was posted on the animal hospital’s Facebook page. In the video, Dr. Ross is singing to “Ruby” before she has her surgery and she’s snuggled up in Dr. Ross’ lap while he sings to her while sitting on the floor of the kennel.

“Sometimes your patient just needs you to go the extra mile to make them feel comfortable when they’re here for the day to have surgery,” the hospital explained on social media. “Dr. Ross has mastered the technique and sweet Ruby was so thankful for that.”

“Whether it is just the one-on-one attention or the soothing melodies, we don’t know,” hospital director Darcy Holloway told FOX-13.

As an update, Ruby underwent a successful procedure and is on her way to a full recovery.
