Fox News host Tucker Carlson blasted New York University earlier this week for a study in which researchers concluded that there is no real censorship of conservatives on social media.
NYU Publishes Study
On Monday, NYU published a study that was titled “False Accusation: The Unfounded Claim that Social Media Companies Censor Conservatives,” the authors of which concluded that claims of anti-conservative bias are “a form of disinformation: a falsehood with no reliable evidence to support it.”
Carlson wasted no time in ripping the study apart, pointing out that on the sixteenth page of it, the authors explicitly admitted that there is insufficient evidence to make these kinds of conclusions.
“Conservatives do get suspended or banned for violating Twitter’s rules against such things as harassment, hateful conduct, or, as in Trump’s case, glorifying violence,” the authors wrote.
“But liberals are excluded in this fashion, as well,” they added. “Pinning down precise proportions is impossible because Twitter doesn’t release sufficient data.”
Carlson, however, was not having any of it.

Carlson Fires Back
“So, to be clear: This NYU study has proven there is no censorship from the tech monopolies,” he said sarcastically. “But if you persist in complaining about this censorship, which does not exist, you may be spreading disinformation. It almost reads like a press release from Silicon Valley, and that’s because it is.”
Carlson went on to point out that Twitter’s press office had sent out an email promoting the findings of this NYU study.
“I wanted to be sure you saw a report out today from the NYU Stern Center for Business and Human Rights,” the Twitter spokesperson wrote. “It found there is no evidence to support claims of anti conservative censorship on social media and that these claims are ‘a form of disinformation.'”

Carlson then said that this study could never be taken seriously because it came from an organization funded, in part, by the philanthropy of Craig Newmark, the Craigslist founder.
The Fox News host described Newmark as “one of the many Silicon Valley billionaires who paid for the Joe Biden for President campaign.”
