Tucker Carlson Joins ‘Doctor’ Controversy, Shreds Jill Biden’s Dissertation: ‘Borderline Illiterate’

Fox News host Tucker Carlson went in on Jill Biden’s dissertation on Wednesday, concluding that she needs reading glasses or perhaps is “borderline illiterate.”

Carlson’s segment comes amid a days-long “controversy” about whether or not Jill Biden should be referred to as “Doctor.” She holds a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Delaware, which she completed in 2007.

Carlson made it very clear where he stands on the matter.

Tucker Carlson Savages Jill Biden’s Dissertation

“Doctor Jill needs reading glasses,” Carlson said Wednesday. “Either that, or she’s borderline illiterate,”

The Fox News pundit blistered the quality of Mrs. Biden’s dissertation.

“There are typos everywhere, including in the first paragraph of the introduction,” Carlson said.

“Doctor Jill can’t write,” he added. “She can’t really think either.”

Carlson kept the critiques coming.

“Parts of the dissertation seem to be written in a foreign language, using English words,” Carlson said. “They’re essentially pure nonsense, like Pig Latin, or dogs barking.”

“The whole thing is just incredibly embarrassing — and not simply to poor, illiterate Jill Biden, but to the college that considered this crap scholarship — in fact, to our entire system of higher education, to the country itself,” he said.

Carlson declared, “Jill Biden’s PhD dissertation is our national shame.”

National Review’s Kyle Smith Says Jill Biden’s ‘Dr.’ Insistence Is A Joke

Mr. Carlson’s critique comes after National Review’s Kyle Smith wrote a harsh column on Wednesday claiming that Jill Biden demands to be called “Dr.” because she was “smarting from an inferiority complex.”

Smith wrote, “Insisting on being called ‘Doctor’ when you don’t heal people is, among most holders of doctorates, seen as a gauche, silly, cringey ego trip.”

“Consider ‘Dr.’ Jill Biden, who doesn’t even hold a Ph.D. but rather a lesser Ed.D., something of a joke in the academic world,” Smith continued.

“President-elect Joe Biden once explained that his wife sought the degree purely for status reasons: “She said, ‘I was so sick of the mail coming to Sen. and Mrs. Biden. I wanted to get mail addressed to Dr. and Sen. Biden.’ That’s the real reason she got her doctorate,’ Joe Biden has said.”

Smith claimed that Biden wanted this title to bolster her own name or brand, but by no means deserves it.

“Mrs. Biden wanted the credential for its own sake,” Smith wrote.

“As for its quality, well,” Smith said, touching on some of Carlson’s criticisms.

Smith Claims Degree Was A Special Favor

“She got it from the University of Delaware, whose ties to her husband, its most illustrious alumnus if you don’t count Joe Flacco, run so deep that it has a school of public policy named after him,” Smith noted.

Smith then speculated that it would have been near politically impossible for the university to reject Mrs. Biden’s dissertation, given who she was married to.

“That the University of Delaware would have rejected her 2006 dissertation as sloppy, poorly written, non-academic, and barely fit for a middle-school Social Studies classroom (all of which it is) when her husband had been representing its state in the U.S. Senate for more than three decades was about as likely as Tom Hagen telling Vito Corleone that his wife is a fat sow on payday,” Smith wrote.

Ouch.

Who Is To Be Called “Doctor?”

The controversy surrounding Jill Biden has caused some commentators to point out the hypocrisy of the media.

While left-wing journalists had meltdowns over a Wall Street Journal opinion piece that argued Mrs. Biden should stop calling herself “Doctor,” others pointed out how often journalists refused to call actual medical doctors “Doctor” – if those doctors were Republicans.

Non-partisan research group R Street wrote in 2015 about how the New York Times rarely referred to Ben Carson as “Doctor.”

Dr. Carson is widely acknowledged as the world’s foremost pediatric neurosurgeon. A man who became the youngest chief of pediatric neurosurgery in the United States at just 33, and pioneered several procedures.

But of course, Dr. Carson is also a Republican, so he is referred to as “Mr.”

Commenters noted the same phenomenon for Republican Ron Paul – an obstetrician who earned his M.D. from Duke and has delivered over 3,000 babies.
