Trump Torches ‘Far Left Fake News Media’ For ‘Trying To COVID Shame’ His Campaign Rallies

As many states nationwide begin to reopen after the months-long COVID-19 pandemic, President Donald Trump is pushing back against criticism of his plan to now bring back his campaign rallies.

President Trump Calls Out Media Double Standard

On Monday, Trump took to Twitter to slam the “far left” media for their support of massive anti-police brutality protests across the country, while simultaneously criticizing his campaign team for bringing back large rallies while some states are seeing a rise in coronavirus cases.

“The Far Left Fake News Media, which had no Covid problem with the Rioters & Looters destroying Democrat run cities, is trying to Covid Shame us on our big Rallies,” Trump tweeted. “Won’t work!”

After African American George Floyd died in the custody of Minneapolis police on Memorial Day, protests nationwide flourished, with some also producing violence.

Media Doesn’t Have Much to Say About Protesters Ignoring Social Distancing

Social distancing to avoid spreading COVID-19 was wildly ignored in most of these protests, yet that has not been a major focus of most media coverage.

Despite this, throughout the anti-police brutality protests, media outlets have condemned Trump for attempting to return to holding in-person rallies for the first time since the pandemic began earlier this year.

One example was shared Sunday night by conservative write Mark Hemingway, in which NBC News failed to mention the coronavirus in a tweet showing a large group of protesters in Brooklyn supporting “Black trans lives,” but an hour later published a story featuring “health experts” who questioned Trump’s decision to hold campaign rallies even the coronavirus is spiking in some states.

Trump Rally Planned for Tulsa, Oklahoma this Weekend Gets Over 1 Million Ticket Requests

Team Trump was criticized last week for scheduling an upcoming rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Friday June 19, or “Juneteenth,” which some consider to be a holiday celebrating the end of slavery in Texas. Tulsa was also where one of the bloodiest race riots in U.S. history occurred almost 100 years ago.

The Trump campaign moved the date to Saturday, and still received over one million ticket requests.

“Almost One Million people request tickets for the Saturday Night Rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma!” Trump tweeted on Monday.
