Donald Trump issued a statement praising former Vice President Mike Pence over his remarks claiming media coverage of the January 6th Capitol riot was meant to “demean” Trump supporters and distract from the Biden administration’s failures.
In an interview with Fox News personality Sean Hannity earlier this week, Pence, who was the target of some vile threats by a handful of protesters at the riot, made some surprising comments.
He decried media focus of the so-called ‘insurrection’ as being obsessed with “one day in January.”
“I know the media wants to distract from the Biden administration’s failed agenda by focusing on one day in January,” said Pence.
“They want to use that one day to try and demean the character and intentions of 74 million Americans who believed we could be strong again and prosperous again and supported our administration in 2016 and 2020,” Trump’s former right-hand man continued.

Trump Praises Pence For Comments
Pence, during the interview, also outlined some of the areas in which he feels the Biden administration has been and abject failure – particularly the failed withdrawal from Afghanistan.
“The Biden administration’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan was the greatest foreign policy debacle since the Iran hostage crisis,” he said. “And it never had to happen.”
President Biden’s unwillingness to listen to his own military leaders’ advice resulted in a suicide bombing that killed 13 service members, a retaliatory drone strike by the United States that killed 10 civilians – including an aid worker and 7 children – and countless Americans being left behind in the Taliban-controlled country.

Trump, in a statement emailed to reporters and supporters Wednesday morning, praised Mike Pence for his comments.
“Vice President Mike Pence’s statement during his interview with the great Sean Hannity very much destroys and discredits the Unselect Committees Witch Hunt on the events of January 6th,” he said.
“It will continue anyways, however, because the Fake News doesn’t want to focus on Afghanistan, Russia, Taiwan and China, the Border, inflation, and a failing economy,” added Trump.

Split Amicably
Pence also revealed that former President Trump and he parted ways just days after the Capitol riot, but did so on good terms.
“I can tell you that we parted amicably at the end of the administration, and we’ve talked a number of times since we both left office,” Pence said, claiming their strong relationship carried them through the turmoil.
“You can’t spend almost five years in a political foxhole with somebody without developing a strong relationship,” he added, suggesting that the future should be where everybody’s concern lies now.
Trump supporters turned on Pence when he certified Joe Biden’s win.
