President Donald Trump slammed former CIA director John Brennan today following an appearance by former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino on Fox News earlier today. (RELATED: Former US Attorney: Obama’s CIA Director John Brennan Led Group Trying to Frame Trump).

John Brennan has been sending cryptic threatening tweets directed at Trump for months, as Congressional investigators continue to uncover the suspicious circumstances that led to the FBI’s counterintelligence operation into the Trump campaign (that became the Robert Mueller Special Counsel after James Comey’s firing). Trump demanded that the DOJ get involved, which led to this response from Brennan.

Following Bongino’s appearance, Trump fired back at Brennan with some new ammunition. “John Brennan is panicking. He has disgraced himself, he has disgraced the Country, he has disgraced the entire Intelligence Community. He is the one man who is largely responsible for the destruction of American’s faith in the Intelligence Community and in some people at the…… of the FBI,” Trump tweeted, quoting Bongino.

There is a strong case to be made that it’s thanks to John Brennan that this whole “Trump/Russia” debacle is even with us in the first place. In testimony to the House Select Committee on Intelligence in May of last year, Brennan described his role in receiving intelligence from foreign sources and passing it along.

I was aware of intelligence and information about contacts between Russian officials and U.S. persons that raised concerns in my mind about whether or not those individuals were cooperating with the Russians, either in a witting or unwitting fashion, and it served as the basis for the FBI investigation to determine whether such collusion—cooperation occurred.

I wanted to make sure that every information and bit of intelligence that we had was shared with the bureau [FBI] so that they could take it. It was well beyond my mandate as director of CIA to follow on any of those leads that involved U.S. persons. But I made sure that anything that was involving U.S. persons, including anything involving the individuals involved in the Trump campaign, was shared with the bureau.

So no wonder Brennan is so afraid of the Trump administration blowing the lid off of the faux-Russia investigation targeting them. Brennan was the man behind the curtain the entire time.
