Trump Drops Official Endorsement, Urges ‘The Legendary Herschel Walker’ To Run For Georgia Senate Seat

Trump: 'Wouldn’t It Be Fantastic If The Legendary Herschel Walker Ran For The U.S. Senate In Georgia?'

On Wednesday, former President Donald Trump issued an official press release urging college and professional football legend Herschel Walker to consider a Georgia run for the United States Senate.

Trump’s announcement came via an email from his Save America PAC.

Since being censored on nearly every major social media platform, Trump has used press releases to get his message out.

Trump: ‘Run Herschel, Run!’

“Wouldn’t it be fantastic if the legendary Herschel Walker ran for the United States Senate in Georgia?” Trump said in the statement.

“He would be unstoppable, just like he was when he played for the Georgia Bulldogs, and in the NFL,” Trump continued. ”

“He is also a GREAT person,” the former president added. “Run Herschel, run!”

Trump wasn’t the only Republican urging Walker to run for office. A few joined Trump’s call.

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Urges Walker To Run

Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia’s 14th District tweeted on Wednesday night, “Yes President Trump @HerschelWalker would be a GREAT Georgia Senator!”

“And would win big!” she added.

59-year-old Walker is a Georgia native. If Walker ran, he would face newly-elected Democrat Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock, who is currently finishing out retired Republican Johnny Isaakson’s term.

Warnock’s win a few months ago was a special election.

The seat is up for election again in the 2022 mid-term election.

Donald Trump, Jr. liked the idea too.

“Now this is something I’d love to see!!!” tweeted the former president’s son on Wednesday.

“@HerschelWalker is a great American and a GA legend,” Don Jr. added.

Trump And Walker Have Been Friends Since The ’80s

Walker’s and Trump senior’s relationship goes all the way back to 1982.

Trump was the owner of the USFL’s New Jersey Generals, which signed Walker after his senior year at Georgia.

Walker would go on to be an NFL great with the Cowboys, Vikings, Eagles, and Giants, and he and Trump have maintained a friendship ever since.

The New York Post reported on Wednesday that “Former Georgia Republican Sen. David Perdue, who lost to Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff in a January runoff, has ruled out running against Warnock in 2022.”

It sounds like if Herschel Walker did decide to step foot onto the political field, he would have a pretty formidable offense and defense in his old friend.
