The Race Baiters Aren’t Going to Like What Cruz Said About Obama

At a U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce forum, Senator Ted Cruz spoke of the Baltimore riots. Cruz was rather blunt in his criticism of Obama’s handling of racial issues.

“President Obama, when he was elected, could have been a unifying leader. He has made decisions that I think have inflamed racial tensions.”

Cruz, who is pursuing the Republican Presidential nomination, stated that rather than uniting Americans, President Obama has divided us by “exacerbating racial misunderstanding and racial tension.” He gave the example of the “beer summit” Obama held early into his first term to attempt to calm tensions between Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates and Cambridge Police Sgt. James Crowley after Gates publicly charged Crowley with racism. Prior to the meeting and without evidence, Obama said that Crowley “acted stupidly.”

Cruz also referenced Vice President Joe Biden’s comments during the 2012 election cycle that Mitt Romney and the Republicans are “going to put y’all back in chains.”
