That Time Joe Biden Said China Is Not America’s Problem

Joe Biden, touting his foreign policy credentials on the campaign trail, recalled how he once told former President Barack Obama that “China is not our problem.”

Biden told a crowd of supporters in Iowa this past October about the time he tried to downplay the threat coming from the nation that now brings you possible economic ruin through non-containment of the coronavirus.

“We talked about China,” Biden relayed. “I said China is not our problem.”

“China is not our problem if we invest and remember who we are,” he continued. “Imagine the situation — I’ve spent more time with Xi Jinping than any world leader had before I left the vice presidency.”

Downplaying the China Threat

Biden has consistently downplayed any threat coming from China, economic or otherwise.

“I mean, you know, they’re not bad folks, folks. But guess what? They’re not competition for us,” he said at a rally shortly after he announced his bid for the presidency.

“China is going to eat our lunch?” Biden scoffed. “Come on, man.”

China’s lies in dealing with coronavirus and allowing it to spread unchecked are not only eating our lunch but costing Americans their jobs and paychecks.

Dangerous Mindset

The fact that Biden made these comments recently – even the story of talking to Barack seems to indicate he still feels this way – has to put the Democrat frontrunner’s foreign policy credentials under a microscope.

While President Trump has been battling the coronavirus pandemic, Biden has been siding with Communist China.

  • Biden recently released a coronavirus-focused statement attacking “Trump’s misguided trade war with China.”
  • When President Trump placed travel restrictions on China on January 31 to slow the spread of the coronavirus, Joe Biden sided with the Chinese.
  • When President Trump fought back against Chinese misinformation by accurately stating that the coronavirus originated there, Joe Biden sided with the Chinese.
  • Biden campaign advisor Ron Klain praised China’s authoritarian government for its response to the virus, heralding the fact that it “built hospitals in two or three days.”

Remember, this is a nation that tried blaming the coronavirus crisis on American service members.

By contrast, when President Trump was asked why he insists on referring to COVID-19 as the “Chinese virus,” he defended our military men and women.

“China tried to say … [coronavirus] was caused by American soldiers,” he explained. “That can’t happen. It’s not going to happen, not as long as I’m President. It comes from China.”

Perhaps if Biden spent more time siding with America and denouncing irresponsible Communist regimes, this country could truly come together and find solutions in this dark time.
