Grandma Accidentally Texts Wrong Person For Thanksgiving- Tells Him To…

Thanksgiving text

A woman in Mesa, Arizona tried texting her grandson with an invite for Thanksgiving dinner, and accidentally sent it to the wrong person – but the story gets truly heartwarming after that.

Wanda Dench, the grandmother, accidentally sent her message to 17-year-old high school senior Jamal Hinton. It contained details for the family’s upcoming Thanksgiving dinner.

Hinton asked for a picture just to be sure, and the two clearly saw they weren’t related.

But then Hinton asked if he could still come over for a Thanksgiving feast, to which Dench a complete stranger, agreed, saying “that’s what grandmas do… Feed everyone.”

Two strangers are spending Thanksgiving together this year because of a text message mix-up. Grandma, Wanda Dench, was trying to reach her grandson to invite him to dinner. By accident she messaged Jamal Hinton. He happened to have his old cell phone number. Jamal wasn’t sure who the invite was from so he asked for a photo. Wanda then sent a selfie of herself. And Jamal broke the news that he wasn’t the person she was looking for. But he still asked for a place at dinner and Wanda said yes.

Even better – Dench credits her family’s history with the Navy as a source of inspiration for her generosity.

“I was, like, ‘Wow, she is really nice, I should really go’,” Hinton told KSAZ. “She seems really sweet. Just a nice lady, I guess.”

Hinton and Dench met on Wednesday for the first time Wednesday before having Thanksgiving dinner next week.

“So, it’s not uncommon, but I haven’t done that for quite a long time,” Dench said. Grew up in a military family. My dad is Navy, so we would invite vets over that we didn’t know either for Thanksgiving.

Just a nice, sweet story to enjoy this holiday, wouldn’t you agree?
