Steve Bannon Stepping Down from Breitbart News

A bombshell revelation this afternoon as reporter Jeremy Peters from the New York Times just dropped an exclusive report on Twitter. According to Peters, Steve Bannon, the irascible former White House chief strategist, is stepping down from his post as executive chairman of Breitbart News.

Peters reports the following:

Mr. Bannon’s departure, which was forced by a onetime financial patron, Rebekah Mercer, comes as Mr. Bannon remained unable to quell the furor over remarks attributed to him in a new book in which he questions President Trump’s mental fitness and disparages his elder son, Donald Trump Jr.

This announcement comes after many tension-filled days following the publication of Michael Wolff’s new bestselling tell-all about the Trump White House. It’s widely suspected that Bannon played a large role in informing Wolff, crafting his depiction of President Trump as childish and incompetent.

The President has reportedly urged his White House staff to cut ties with Bannon. The war of words has gotten so bad that Trump actually assigned one of his patented nicknames to Bannon in the form of “Sloppy Steve.”

The fallout from the White House was sparked by Bannon reportedly telling Wolff that the meeting between a Russian lawyer and Donald Trump Jr. in the summer of 2016 was “unpatriotic” and possibly “treasonous.”

President Trump fired back at his former chief strategist, saying that when Bannon left the White House, “he not only lost his job, he lost his mind.”

Bannon revealed earlier this week that he intended to apologize to the Trump family for his remarks. That never happened, as Trump escalated the rhetoric and both dug their heels in.

Shortly after the fallout between Trump and Bannon, many White House staffers have implied that Bannon was the main leaker to the press all along during his stint in the White House.

This is a breaking story! Share it with others on Facebook now!
