State Dept Sends Chilling ‘Final Warning’ To Americans Who ‘Remain In Afghanistan’ – Then Withdraws It

State Dept Sends 'Final Warning' To Americans Who ‘Remain In Afghanistan’ - Will Be ‘Without Assistance,’ Then Withdraws

On Tuesday, the U.S. Embassy sent out a “final warning” stating that Americans who “choose to” remain in Afghanistan “should be prepared to arrange their departure without assistance from the U.S. government.”

Then the chilling message was quickly withdrawn.

U.S. Embassy In Afghanistan Sends Out Message Then Quickly Withdraws It

The embassy texted to Americans in Afghanistan on Tuesday, “THIS IS THE FINAL MESSAGE FOR AMERICAN CITIZENS WHO WISH TO DEPART KABUL. American citizens who choose to remain in Afghanistan should be prepared to arrange their departure without assistance from the U.S. government.”

NBC News’ Richard Engel reported that the embassy recalled the alert 30 minutes after it was sent out.

“US embassy issues last alert for US citizens to leave afghanistan or they’re on their own, then recalls it 30 mins later,” Engel tweeted.

On Tuesday, President Joe Biden announced that the American military’s withdrawal deadline would not be extended even if some Americans remain in Afghanistan.

White House internal data shows thousands of Americans are probably going to remain trapped in the country.

Leaders in both parties have asked Biden to extend the deadline. Meanwhile, the Taliban has warned the U.S. not to stay beyond August 31.

Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff said Monday, “I’m certainly of the view that we maintain a military presence as long as it’s necessary to get all U.S. persons out, and to meet our moral and ethical obligation to our Afghan partners.”

Republican And Democrat Leaders Want The Deadline Extended By Biden Administration

Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell spoke out on Tuesday to say that, “The president needs to forget about the August 31st deadline.”

“We need to send enough American personnel, military personnel to rescue our people, and by the way, there are more American soldiers there now than before the president made the decision to leave,” McConnell continued.

“Extend the deadline,” he added. “Get outside the perimeter, make sure that every single American who wants to leave is able to get out with our assistance, and our Afghan allies.”

Biden has been widely panned on both sides of the aisle for his handling of this crisis.
