Starbucks Once Refused to Let A Cop Use The Restroom, No One Cared

A Starbucks once refused a police officer access to their restroom because he wasn’t a paying customer, and to nobody’s surprise there were no protests and the coffee chain didn’t shut down over 8,000 stores to offer their employees sensitivity training.

The incident took place in Philadelphia in 2015, when an officer asked to use a restroom that had a security key code on it.

The sergeant posted his experience on Facebook, describing a “young blonde liberal” who “stated in a loud voice … that the bathroom is for paying customers only.”

“She continued loudly to tell me about the bathroom down the street,” he added. “I was even more astonished that the many customers and other employees said nothing and seemed indifferent.”

The corporate office would eventually apologize to the officer but didn’t choose a day to halt business and re-train their employees on how to properly treat law enforcement.

Fast-forward a few years when two African-American men were asked to leave a Starbucks in Philadelphia because they weren’t paying customers and regardless, had requested use of the restroom.

The outrage led to a decision by the CEO of Starbucks to close over 8,000 stores in May to conduct ‘racial-bias education’ for over 175,000 employees.

“Closing our stores for racial bias training is just one step in a journey that requires dedication from every level of our company and partnerships in our local communities,” CEO Kevin Johnson said in a statement.

They even enlisted the help of Former Obama Attorney General, Eric Holder, who was named as one of the ‘educators’ for the racial-bias education program.

Yes, the man who hasn’t found a race card he’s unwilling to use is training baristas on how to identify “implicit bias, promote inclusion and help prevent discrimination.”

Where was the training for employees so they would include and prevent discrimination of police officers?

  • Customer service has gone right out the window today. I have been in the hospitality industry for over 20 years and this makes me sick when you put politics in from of the job you are to do. I will never set foot in another Starbucks and if I did I would probably buy a small coffee and ask to use the toilet and go in there and dump the whole cup on the floor and walk out! I hope all my brothers and sisters from the military boycott them as well!

  • That's affirmative action at work again, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Useless Starbucks shall never, ever see a single cent of money from me.

  • I hope that Starbucks all across the US at one time or another get held up at gunpoint and that when police are called they're busy going to the bathroom down the street out of sight of Starbucks.

  • I drove a long way to shop at a new fish store. When I got there I asked to use the restroom and was told it was for employees only. Took my business elsewhere and they are now out of business. You can't treat customers with a lack of respect and still have them come in to do business.

  • The same thing went on back in the late 60s and early 70s and the term pigs was the word used.. I didn't like it then and I don't like it now...I have always supported officers of the law and always will.....PERIOD....I've got your 6...

    • But they are damn quick to call the police if they are being robbed or have a rowdy customer... Rather go to a Dunkin Donuts Shop instead...

  • Oh, as an after-thought, I wouldn't pee in a Starbucks restroom, unless it was an emergency. As a rule, Starbuck's coffee is over priced and tastes like sewer water, and no way would throw away $5.00 for a cup sewer water.

  • I had a Walmart bathroom cleaner tell me I couldn't use the restroom, as it was closed for cleaning. I simply told her "I'm opening the restroom, if I try to make it to the rear of the store restroom, she'd be cleaning up on aisle 7." I told her she could "leave or stay, I didn't mind either way."

  • Somehow both this and similar refusals to serve Trump supporters has met with deafening silence !!!!!!
