Socialists form PAC to officially take over Democrats

Socialist remnants of the Bernie Sanders campaign for president, not content with setting the Democratic Party’s agenda and having full reign over it’s policy initiatives, now want to make an honest bride out of the party. They are moving to make their takeover complete by making it official: They have formed a super PAC to compel the Biden campaign toe the ideological line.

A super PAC is a political group that can raise unlimited sums from all sources but legally can’t (ha!) coordinate with the actual campaign they support. That regulation is honored more in the breach than in the observance.

The Associated Press reports, “Over the last five years, the progressive movement in this country has had tremendous success in changing the debate and changing the party.” We will now “elect a candidate who will help us institutionalize some of those changes,” said Jeff Weaver, Sanders campaign chief. “Bernie Sanders remains opposed to super PACs. Joe Biden is already supported by a number of super PACs,” he added, not resisting the temptation to again trash Joe Biden even though Weaver himself now heads this super PAC.

“I don’t think anybody should be under the illusion that Joe Biden is suddenly going to become exactly like Bernie Sanders,” Weaver said. True—at least Sanders could occasionally put together a coherent sentence.

“This is an effort completely independent of him [Biden] and his campaign,” Mike Casca, another Sanders vet who is on board, said in an email. Inaccurately, the email did not contain laughing emojis.

Commented Ron Klain, former Biden chief of staff, “Everything starts obviously with leaders saying, ’Hey, let’s come together and let’s unite.’ But then there’s a lot of hard work that has to go on to take that vision and make that a reality. I think what Jeff’s [Weaver] doing is part of taking that vision — that vision that Vice President Biden and Senator Sanders and others have had — and saying, ‘Hey, now how can we go make this happen?’”

This transparent attempt at an official hostile takeover of the Biden effort by the socialist wing of the party turns any pretense Biden has to being perceived as a moderate into utter bosh. He’s going hard left, and with that gambit will slip away any small shot he’s ever had at the White House.
