See The Incredible Trump Portrait Displayed At The Smithsonian

An incredible portrait of former President Donald Trump is set to go on display at the Smithsonian Institution’s signature exhibit when it reopens on May 14.

The portrait will be a part of the “America’s Presidents” exhibit, which is the only collection of presidential portraits outside of the White House.

The image is truly something to behold.

According to the Smithsonian, “The 2019 image of Trump is one of many captured by the award-winning photographer Pari Dukovic, while on assignment for Time magazine. Taken on June 17, after Trump officially announced his plans to run for reelection, the image depicts him perched at the edge of a maroon chair with one hand resting on the historic Resolute Desk in the Oval Office.”

The “America’s Presidents” Exhibit

The “America’s Presidents” exhibit tells the story of the American presidency

Of the Trump portrait, Curator of Photographs for the Gallery Leslie Urena said that she believes the portrait has both artistic and historic merit.

“I like the composition of the photograph, it is an angle we don’t often see. You get a little bit of the other side and what’s behind the desk.” She added, “We want to not only depict the individual, but also bring as much history, as much context as possible.”

I’ve seen many, many images of Donald Trump, and this one perfectly expresses the man, in my humble opinion:

The exhibit traces the Presidency through time, beginning with “Building the Presidency” and an iconic portrait of George Washington by Gilbert Stuart, to the “Contemporary Presidency,” which includes portraits of Richard Nixon by Norman Rockwell, Bill Clinton by Chuck Close, and John F. Kennedy by Elaine de Kooning.

Traditionally, there is a place in the exhibit reserved for the portrait of the most recent former president.

The portrait of former President Barack Obama, along with a portrait of former First Lady Michelle Obama, is scheduled to go on tour from June of this year until May 2022.

Love And Hate For The Trump Portrait

The announcement of the Trump portrait was not without some snark and the usual displeasure of all things Trump.

Anti-Trumpers were quick to take to social media and voice their opinions over the new portrait in the Smithsonian Gallery.

The snark ranged from people thinking the portrait should portray Trump in an orange jumpsuit, implying he should be in jail, to inappropriate symbols drawn over tweets announcing the portrait and the reopening of the gallery.

On the flip side, supporters had a bit of fun with the announcement, and portraits of other former presidents.

Some even had fun with a future former president.

The Former First Lady Also Gets Her Share Of Photos

The former President has not been the only one in the photo spotlight recently.

Yesterday former First Lady Melania Trump celebrated her 51st birthday. Melania’s class and timeless style was on display all over social media.

Not to be left out, The Daily Mail ran a series of photos of former First Daughter Ivanka stepping out in New York City.

Is there a more photogenic family in America?
