Gov. Cuomo Denies Sexual Misconduct Allegations, Says ‘People Want Attention, People Are Jealous’

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has laid relatively low since a number of all women came forward to accuse the Democrat of sexual misconduct.

But on Monday, Cuomo held a press conference in which he said of his accusers, they just “want attention.”

Cuomo: ‘People Want Attention. People Are Angry. People Are Jealous’

At his first press conference since November, a reporter asked about the multiple women who had accused the governor of sexual misbehavior. Cuomo responded by saying, “No, no.”

The New York Post reported Cuomo’s response to questions about the women who have accused him, “People are venial. People want attention. People are angry. People are jealous.”

When Cuomo was asked if he regrets inviting a female staff member to the Executive Mansion, Cuomo replied, “No.”

Cuomo: ‘I Didn’t Do Anything Wrong’

“I have many women who were working state government,” Cuomo said. “I’m very proud that we probably have more women in senior positions than ever before. And I think that’s a good thing.”

As for the state attorney general’s office investigation into the sex-harassment allegations that have been made against him, Cuomo was dismissive. 

“The report can’t say anything different because I didn’t do anything wrong,” Cuomo said.

Accuser Charlotte Bennett’s Attorney Not Buying It

The number of women accusing Gov. Cuomo of sexual misconduct is currently seven.

Charlotte Bennett is one of those women.

Her attorney, Debra Katz, said in response to Cuomo’s comments on Monday, “Today, Gov. Andrew Cuomo conducted a press conference in which he continued his effort to actively undermine the Attorney General’s independent investigation into his sexual harassment of my client, Charlotte Bennett, and numerous other women.”

“The Governor said he didn’t ‘do anything wrong,’ demonstrating a studied ignorance of both his legal obligations and a revisionist history about his own conduct,” Katz added.
