Trump Allies Propose DACA Amnesty in Exchange for Border Wall

Fox News host Sean Hannity suggested Trump is open to accepting DACA amnesty in exchange for Democrat support for a border wall.

Hannity confirms the President’s thinking

Hannity, a known confidant of President Trump, floated the proposal on his Fox News program, suggesting the President is actually considering the proposal. “The President is willing to negotiate DACA,” Hannity confirmed during his opening monologue:

Hannity’s confirmation caused such a stir that CNN dedicated a portion of a segment to it, suggesting Hannity’s comments were “no accident.”

Indeed, given Hannity’s closeness with President Trump, it probably isn’t an accident the DACA deal was raised as a possibility. (RELATED: Fox News Admonishes Sean Hannity and Jeanine Pirro for Appearing with Trump at Rally.)

Pence confirms DACA is on the table

In a separate Fox News show, “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” the titular host interviewed Vice President Pence and asked about a possible deal involving DACA amnesty and the border wall. Here’s how Pence answered: “There’s a lot of people talking about a lot of different ideas. Frankly, the better part of a year ago, the president expressed a willingness to deal with the issue of Dreamers in a compassionate way so people who were brought here as children, through no fault of their own — he’s discussed that. It’s being talked about.” (Emphasis mine)

Clearly, the President is considering extending DACA-style amnesty to those who came to the country illegally as children. Pelosi rejected such a deal last month, before she was able to secure the speakership. (RELATED: Nancy Pelosi Declares There Will Be No Wall Funding in Exchange for DACA Solution!)

Now that Pelosi is officially Speaker, the thinking is that she’s more flexible on such a deal. But will President Trump risk alienating part of his base by extending legal protections to those in the country illegally in exchange for a border wall?
