Scott Walker Will Run for Governor in 2020 – Not President

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has announced that he will be running for re-election in his home state in 2020.

With this announcement, Walker confirms that he will not primary President Trump.

This is a smart move. To primary a sitting president would badly split the party, and would damage President Trump in the run-up to the 2020 general election, should he have won.

From Washington Examiner:

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker said he has ruled out a 2020 presidential run.

“I’m ready to run for governor in 2018. I’m going to fill my term out for the next four years,” he told CNBC on Tuesday.

With all of Washington targeting Trump, the less folks from his own party going after him, the better.

A recent poll showed that Ohio governor John Kasich would beat Trump in a hypothetical primary contest in New Hampshire.

Trump needs to win back support from voters, and it isn’t helping that Republican leaders keep failing to get anything done.

Democrats are coming together and are planning to destroy Trump. California Senator Kamala Harris is reportedly planning a run. One Democrat backbencher has already announced his intention to run.

Trump will need every Republican’s support if he is going to win in 2020.
